5 Windows 10 apps you should try: Anime, DragonCon, Flickr, and bionic sheep

With the ever-growing number of apps and games in the Windows Store, it is becoming increasingly difficult to keep up with what's out there.

For that reason, every Friday we showcase some apps that have piqued our interest. They may have been in the news recently, they may be new to the Windows Store, or they could simply be old apps that we just stumbled upon.

They are the 5 Intriguing Apps of the Week.

Skyscanner

Skyscanner

Skyscanner is a third-party Windows 10 client for the travel website of the same name.

More or less a web wrapper for the site, the app lets you search for flights across tons of airlines and compare prices. Plug in your travel dates, number of people, and any other particulars, and watch as the Skyscanner scours the net for the best deals.

You can also use the app to book hotel accommodations and rent cars for your trip. All in all, Skyscanner searches over 1200 websites, so you can be sure you are getting the rock bottom price.

Easily access Skyscanner's chat bots on Skype and Facebook, which will open up in your default web browser. You can also log in to see your bookings and manage your account.

If you fancy a trip on the cheap, be sure to take Skyscanner for a spin.

Available for Windows 10 PC and Mobile.

Perfect Flicker

Perfect Flicker

The prolific programmers over at Perfect Thumb have put out a new another Windows 10 app. This time, it's a Flickr client called Perfect Flicker, of course.

This beautifully-designed app sports an intuitive user interface and plenty of fuctionality. Log into your Flickr account to see your photostream and albums, manage your favorites, and maintain your contacts and groups.

Search for images by keyword, person, or group, or explore using popular tags and see what's hot. Follow your favorite users and leave comments on their work. The app also lets you download images, share them, or use them as your Windows background.

Perfect Flicker has cool features of its own as well. Profiles, albums, and groups can be pinned to the Start menu as tiles. The app can also be set up to automatically upload photos from your camera roll directly to Flickr.

Flickr users on Windows 10 will love Perfect Flicker for its top-notch design, ease of use, and functionality that we have come to expect from Perfect Thumb's line of apps.

Available for Windows 10 PC and Mobile.

DragonCon 2016

DragonCon

DragonCon is one of the largest fantasy and science-fiction conventions in the world, boasting over 65,000 visitors last year alone. The event is set to take place in Atlanta on September 2-5, with over 5000 hours of programmed content.

So how the heck are you supposed to find your way around and make the most of your time there? Simply summon the official DragonCon app to your Windows 10 Mobile device and instantly be transported to a realm of otherworldly goodness.

The DragonCon app, which just dropped a couple of days ago, offers you weary travelers a complete map of the event to guide your way to panels and special events. You will also find a full schedule, including a list of celebrity guests who will be making appearances. There's a list of vendors, dealers, and exhibitors as well.

Should you be making the journey to the gigantic DragonCon this time around, you will find the official app a welcome companion.

Available for Windows 10 Mobile.

Anime Kiss Tube

Anime Kiss Tube

Anime Kiss Tube is an app that lets users watch thousands of anime titles online free of charge on their Windows 10 computers, tablets, and smartphones.

Search by title or browse one of the many neatly-organized categories, like newest episodes, latest additions, or most popular. You will also find a comprehensive list of genres that you can explore.

Add movies and series to your favorites list and watch them in the app's built-in media player. Titles will automatically be marked as watched, so you can keep track of what you have seen and not seen.

Anime Kiss Tube offers some of the biggest names in anime, like Dragon Ball Z, Avatar: The Last Airbender, One Piece, and more. There are also plenty of lesser-know titles to choose from, most of which are available in HD.

And more episodes are added on a regular basis, so even if you make it through the thousands of shows, you can keep coming back for more. Anime Kiss Tube is treasure trove anime favorites with something for everyone.

Available for Windows 10 PC and Mobile.

Bionick.S

Bionick.S

Bionick.S is a side-scrolling runner where you play a technologically-enhanced sheep who is battling evil cyborgs. Oh, yes.

You must dodge rockets and lasers by jumping and sliding, which may sound simple on its face. However, the actions are nuanced so you can control the length of your jumps and slides. Adding to the difficulty is Bionick.S' lightning fast pace.

Despite its simplistic gameplay, Bionick.S features detailed 3D design with characters that look like they are straight out of a sci-fi cartoon. The storyline progresses with the help comic book style cinematic panels that are beautifully drawn.

Like most runner games, Bionick.S will leave you frustrated at times and have you kicking yourself for stupid mistakes. Likewise, it can also get repetitive at times. That being said, the artwork alone makes it worth the free download, even if it sometimes outshines the gameplay itself.

Available for Windows 10 PC and Mobile.
