Every weekend, Windows Central streams an Xbox One or Steam game on Twitch for 1-2 hours and gives out free games to the cool people who join us during the stream. It's like a live podcast, only you also get to watch a game while chatting with our awesome readers and viewers!

Tonight we played Abzû, a beautiful underwater diving adventure from 505 Games. With a huge undersea world to explore, mysterious to discover, and utterly gorgeous visuals, Abzû shouldn't be missed. Read on for quick impressions, contest details, and the full video replay.

Abzû is the first game from Giant Squid, an indie developer led by Matt Nava, the art director of the critically acclaimed PlayStation game Journey. It recently came out on Steam and PlayStation 4, to much critical acclaim.

Players control a mysterious diver as she explores a vast undersea world. She'll encounter massive schools of fish with realistic schooling behavior. Fish lovers will enjoy the ability to not only grab and ride along with larger fish, but also to meditate and play from an individual fish's perspective.

Abzû is easily one of the most artistically stunning games of this console generation. The ocean looks and feels alive, with countless fish and undersea plants moving about at once. The use of color and lighting is unparalleled – this game will constantly delight the senses. It's honestly the most beautiful game I've ever played.

You can't lose in Abzû, although at times you'll have to contend with a huge shark and other dangers. The goal is simply to enjoy the journey and discover what's going on in the undersea realms. And there are strange and interesting things down there! The diver will eventually encounter strange portals that lead to a fantastic alien realm.

Watch us play to learn some of the mysteries that Abzû's gorgeous ocean holds. You can grab the game on Steam and PlayStation 4 for $19.99. Hopefully we'll get an Xbox One version someday too!

How to watch Twitch livestreams

What's the best way to experience Twitch? The Twitch website on your PC or Mac web browser. If you don't have or prefer not to use a computer, you can get the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, or Xbox 360 Twitch apps and watch from the comfort of your couch. Android and iOS both have official and unofficial Twitch apps to choose from as well.

On Windows Phone, you'll have to grab an unofficial app. There are several to choose from, each with different strengths and weaknesses. Only one app lets you search directly for our channel, though. If you use the others, you'll have to find and follow us from a web browser first. Read the roundup to learn more!

Future streams

Want to know what's next for Windows Central's Twitch programming? We stream a different game every Saturday (and sometimes Sunday). The stream always starts at the same time: 9pm Eastern (8pm Central, 6pm Pacific, 1am GMT). Over the next few weeks, we'll be streaming the following (schedule not finalized):

  • Saturday, August 27: Hue, a beautiful platformer from Curve Digital that comes out on August 30. Win an Xbox gift card!

We hope you'll tune in as often as you can! Set a recurring alarm on your phone so you'll always know when it's time for the stream to start.
