Acer Nitro 5 entry-level gaming laptop unveiled ahead of Computex

Before Computex 2017 begins in Acer's home city, Taipei, the company has announced a pair of new laptops. One of them is this, the Nitro 5, an entry-level gaming laptop with either NVIDIA or AMD power.

Consumers can choose from models that feature up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050Ti graphics with 7th Generation Intel Core™ processors or AMD Radeon™ RX 550 graphics with 7thGeneration AMD A-series processors.

Specifically you're looking at either a Kaby Lake Intel Core i5 or i7 processor with the NVIDIA version, or 7th-generation AMD FX, A10 or A12 processors with the RX 550 model. Both will support up to 32GB of DDR4 2400 RAM, and of course, come with Windows 10.

"Selected" models will come with a combination of PCIe SSD (up to 512GB) and HDD storage to cover both fast boot times and sheer volume, making sure you don't run out of space for your favorite games. You'll also find a USB 3.1 Type-C port, one USB 3.0 port with power-off charging for your phone or tablet, two USB 2.0 ports, and an HDMI 2.0 port that supports up to 90Hz refresh rates.

When it comes to cooling:

The Nitro 5 features dual fans with Acer Coolboost™technology, which delivers heightened fan speeds and cooling ability, and allows users to manually control the cooling process when heavy use requires an added boost.

Out front, you'll be looking at a 15.6-inch 1080p IPS display and some red backlighting on the keyboard, while your ears will be treated to Dolby Audio Premium and Acer's TrueHarmony. The Nitro 5 is set to launch in July in North America and China with prices starting at $799. A launch in the EMEA region will follow in August.
