In-app ad provider AdDuplex will offer Windows Phone developers a new type of banner ad they can use in their releases. These interstitial ads will take up most of the screen and are designed primarily for games, although they can be used for any type of apps.
The company says they wanted to add interstitial ad support in order to offer game developers better in-app promotions. It stated:
Usually they couldn't find a reasonable space to put a banner ad during gameplay and showing banner ads only on the menu screen didn't help them achieve results they could expect considering the popularity of their games. There's a widely accepted industry solution for games – interstitial ads – ads occupying most of the screen during transitions between levels, stages of the game, game sessions, etc. It doesn't interfere with the gameplay or visual design of the screens of the game, but attracts user attention much better than banner ads.
AdDuplex is trying to encourage developers to use this new option with a couple of giveaways. One is that one of the first 10 developers who sign up for their interstitial ads will get a free Lumia 1520. Also, every app developer who starts using the new ads before June 15 will be automatically entered into a contest. The winner will get a free pass to Gamescom 2015 in Cologne, Germany in August, along with the Game Developers Conference Europe event. They will also get up to €2,000 for travel and expenses and €500 in pocket money.
