Adobe announces Lightroom CC with HDR, facial recognition, and more

Adobe has announced the next major version of Lightroom, which adds a number of new features such as HDR Merge, easier sharing, and facial recognition. Available both in Adobe Creative Cloud and as a standalone download, Lightroom's latest release adds a number of powerful new features. HDR Merge allows you to quickly combine multiple shots taken with different exposure settings into one image. Along similar lines, you can also merge multiple shots into a single panoramic image. Lightroom CC also has facial recognition, letting you easily find people in your Lightroom library.

In addition to these major new features, there are many other improvements with this update. These include things like increased control over Graduated and Radial filters, better web galleries, and advanced video slide shows. Adobe says they've also made major GPU performance improvements to the app on both Windows and OS X.

Lightroom CC is available as part of Adobe Creative Cloud, including the $10-per-month Photography plan. You can get the standalone Lightroom 6 for $149. Both will be available for download at some point today.
