Aeries, a relatively new Twitter app for Windows Phone that we were thoroughly impressed with during our hands-on, scored an update today, bringing with it a ton of bug fixes along and support for background notifications.

Here are some of the highlights from Aeries 1.2:

  • Background functionality - option to enable background refresh per account (this will keep your cache up to date for offline reading), if you have live tile enabled this will also ensure you always have fresh information on your tile.
  • Background notifications - Ability to enable background notifications per account. You can filter it down to mentions, direct messages and retweets currently.
  • You will now receive completions for everyone you follow when composing tweets.
  • Give your filters a name to easily identify them.
  • Application bar will now take on your chosen tint color.
  • Added Instagram Video support.
  • Added Xbox Image sharing support.

In addition to the above changes, Aeries has also picked up language support for Greek, Norwegian, and Indonesian, as well as a number of bug fixes and UI tweaks.

If you haven't had the chance to try it out yet, you can grab Aeries for $4.49 from the store link below. If you want to know more about Aeries, be sure to check out our hands-on with the app.
