BBC iPlayer now available on Xbox One

Good news for British TV fans – the ones living in Britain, anyway – as today sees the long awaited arrival of the BBC iPlayer application for the Xbox One. At the time of writing we're not seeing it in the store on the console, but you can install right this second using the Xbox One Smartglass application on your smartphone or tablet.

Microsoft won't be in business with Barnes & Noble anymore. The bookseller announced today that it is acquiring the part of its Nook Media company that Microsoft had purchased over two years ago and added that the two companies "have agreed to terminate their commercial agreement including any associated obligations for international content acquisition and sale."

You may remember that back at CES 2014 in January, we got a live demo of Brothers In Arms 3: Sons of War from the folks at Gameloft. At the time, the World War II-themed game was supposed to be released later that quarter. That date came and went with no such launch but this week Gameloft has confirmed that Brothers In Arms 3 will finally be released later in December for Windows Phone and other platforms.

T-Mobile is in the holiday spirit and are dropping some deals to make the season bright. The latest offering is a $50 discount on the popular HTC One M8 (both Android and Windows Phone versions). The discount drops the full retail price from $585.60 down to $535.44 — not a huge discount but still some extra change in your pocket for the holiday season.

It looks like Sonic Dash, the endless runner featuring Sega's iconic mascot, has finally made its way onto Windows Phone. The game puts you in the shoes of Sonic, Tails, Shadow, or Knuckles as you run and dash through vivid environments and engage in challenging boss battles.

Available for low-memory Windows Phones, the game comes after developer Game Troopers announced that a handful of its game would be added as Xbox enabled games on Windows Phone. Size doesn't matter for these tiny men. Tiny Troopers has 30 missions that take you through its narrative-driven campaign. It features intuitive controls, sweet visuals, and a unique sense of humor.

Verizon begins testing 4G LTE on 3G spectrum

After having announced that it would repurpose portions of its 3G spectrum to operate the faster 4G LTE protocol sometime in 2015, it looks like the Verizon has begun the conversion process and is testing these plans in select markets. Verizon would not give specifics about the test markets right now, but it is reported that Verizon is at least starting its trial of operating LTE on some of its 3G spectrum in New York.
