Fitness bands are part of a rapidly growing category at the moment. We've been seeing bands from the likes of FitBit and Jawbone, both of whom have released several models over the years. We've also been seeing new bands from established names in the fitness space such as Garmin, Polar, and NordicTrack. Not to mention, the bands coming from established companies outside the fitness space — namely Microsoft and the recently released (and rather simply named) Microsoft Band.

Just with that there are already plenty of models to consider before making a purchase. And not to add any more confusion to the process, but we are also seeing some category crossover with smartwatches, running oriented fitness watches, and some standalone mobile apps. Basically, all of that is to say the fitness band category may seem a bit messy or overwhelming at the moment. We've even discovered some (previously unknown to us) models while compiling this buyers guide. And if we've missed some, it seems safe to believe others may have as well.

So just what are your options for the best fitness tracker? Read on and let's find out!

Halo: the Master Chief Collection, the compilation of all four numbered Halo games, is finally available on Xbox One. Our detailed review won't be live until tomorrow, but a lot of players already own the game and are enjoying it right now.

In celebration of the Master Chief Collection launch, Windows Central is hosting a special Twitch streaming event. Tonight you can both tune in to watch us play and chat with our staff and your fellow readers, and you can also actually play with us during the session! We'll be inviting stream viewers into our custom multiplayer games for some serious Slayer and other game types.

Update: The stream has ended. We managed to play a few games, but the broken multiplayer prevented us from enjoying the game as much as we hoped. Fingers crossed that 343 will get everything working right soon!

Ubisoft is no stranger to Windows Phone and tonight they yet have another release to grace your device: Shape Up Battle Run. The game is related to the just released Ubisoft Xbox One Shape Up game, and lets you use your Windows Phone to augment your runs.

Think of Shape Up Battle Run as a cross between a game and fitness app. Using your phone's built-in sensors, the game can simulate a pedometer to record when you are running. Alternatively, the app can access your GPS to record your runs that way too. The app then pairs you up against the computer to simulate runs against an opponent.

Fast Camera is a Windows Phone photography app that allows you to capture up to 25 HD photos per second. Once captured you can skim through the images and save the best photos to your phone.

Along with the burst feature, Fast Camera also has a time-lapse mode, a self-timer and stealth mode. Fast Camera has experienced a good amount of success over on iOS and at first glance, it should have similar success on the Windows Phone platform.

Fast Camera is this week's myAppFree deal of the week, which will save you $.99.

HTC is continuing to refine their HTC One for Windows, which saw its release on AT&T this past weekend (T-Mobile is still in limbo on their release). Today's update brings a nice update to HTC Photo Edit, which not only lets users do some basic photo chopping, but adds neat effects using the One's Duo Camera.

Version 2.0 is now on the Store, and there are numerous refinements to the app, including some subtle UI changes like the slider for the selective U-Focus feature. Additionally, a new effect called 'Seasons' has been added, and it is quite clever.
