The Xbox One launched in Japan at the beginning of September this year. There it has struggled to against competition from the more popular Playstation 4 and declining interest in consoles from Japanese consumers. Despite those difficulties, Japanese software has started to trickle out for the Xbox One.

First there was the free Chaos;Child demo, and now the Xbox One even has an MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) in Japan: Onigiri! The release of Onigiri is exciting because the game is free and not region locked. Anybody can download and start questing with friends, provided they don't mind a little legwork and a lot of Japanese text. Windows 10 for Phone to have innovative Mixview Live Tiles

When it comes to Windows 10 on PC, much is already known in terms of enterprise design and features. After all, there is a public preview of Windows 10, which is downloadable to any laptop or PC right now. Still, the consumer end of Windows 10 is mostly a mystery at this time. Microsoft reportedly will detail more on that facet early next year.

Another unclear aspect is in regards to the Windows Phone UI. Although Windows 10 spans across PC, laptop, tablet, phone and even the Xbox One, it is not clear what, if any, changes it brings to the Start screen, especially on the phone.

Windows Central has been able to confirm with multiple sources that 'flyout tiles', also known as Mixview, will return to Windows Phone. Such a feature is returning because the concept was originally designed for the 3D Touch system that was to premiere with 'McLaren'.

Microsoft helped pioneer indie games on consoles with the Xbox 360. Even though Microsoft was the first of the big three to support indie games, many developers hated the company's strict guidelines. Indie games had to be published by larger companies, making it tough to get your game on Xbox Live Arcade.

With the Xbox One, that was all supposed to change. Microsoft would allow all Xbox One consoles to become dev kits in order to reduce development costs. However, Microsoft has since backtracked from that plan. On the plus side, they started the ID@Xbox program to help indie games come to the new console. But it seems as if the ID@Xbox parity clause is beginning to hurt indie dev and gamers alike.

Christmas is arguably one of the biggest holidays, especially in the United States. Therefore, it should be of no surprise that Microsoft has programmed Cortana to respond to some yuletide inquiries with appropriate responses.

Firing up Cortana and asking her numerous questions or proclamations will inspire the digital personal assistant to respond appropriately. Here are a few examples sent to us by one perceptive reader.

Threes! has just been named by Apple as the iPhone Game of the Year. Coincidently, it also has just been released for the Xbox One. You've probably heard of the game by now, but in case you haven't, it's a puzzle game that makes you slide tiles on a grid to combine numbers in multiples of three. The game ends when there are no moves left. It's highly addictive. Watch how it looks on the Xbox One in our hands-on video.

It looks like T-Mobile is pushing forward with its un-carrier initiative with a new family package that offers unlimited everything for a base cost of $100 for two lines. Each additional line will run you $40 extra per line. Overall, at $180 for 4 lines, the package deal would end up saving you $40 per month over building the plan yourself, which would set you back $220 per month.
