ASUS announces the ROG STRIX RX 480, its first AMD Polaris graphics card

ASUS has taken the wraps off its upcoming Republic of Gamers STRIX RX 480, the first AMD Polaris GPU the company will launch. Producing less heat and more power than predecessor AMD cards, the new STRIX RX 480 will prove an ideal purchase for those wanting to upgrade or move into the ROG family. ASUS has opted to pair up 8GB of GDDR5 VRAM.

You've got DirectCU III cooling, a black metal shroud and backplate (huge bonus, thanks ASUS!) with its latest Aura RGB lighting setup so you can customize the card to match your PC rig. There's also a dedicated HDMI 2.0b port for VR, and there's even AMD FreeSync that will guarantee butter-smooth gameplay experiences. ASUS will likely reveal additional details surrounding the pricing and availability in the coming weeks.
