AT&T HD7S Mango update starting today [Rumor]

Although AT&Ts Mango update program has generally been quite successful, there are a few missing pieces: Samsung Focus v1.4, the Dell Venue Pro and the HTC HD7S are still missing.

Looks like that last one, the HD7S, may be getting Mango slightly sooner than expected. The original leaked plans aimed for an end of October ETA, but now it seems they may have wrapped up testing earlier than expected. WinRumors received an internal AT&T letter stating that the Mango update for the 4.3" screen device should be starting today.

From part of the letter that WinRumors received:

"On October 11, 2011, Microsoft is scheduled to begin rolling out the new Mango 7720 update to AT&T customers with existing HTC HD7S Windows Phone 7 devices. The update supports the same enhancements that began rolling out to AT&T customers using HTC Surround, LG Quantum, and Samsung Focus devices in late September."

Going to the official Windows Phone support page, we see in fact that the HD7S is in "scheduling" meaning a switch to "delivering" is easily done. However, the Focus v1.4 is still in testing and the Dell Venue Pro...well...

"The HTC HD7S is currently Scheduling, while the Samsung Focus v. 1.4 is Testing and the Dell Venue Pro is in Planning."

Hit us up if and when you get your official update. Heck, our own George Ponder will be flashing his ASAP.

AT&T HD7S Mango update starting today [Rumor]

Yeah, but you're probably missing the firmware. Can you run any compass apps on it? Do you have selective/region touch focus in the camera?

The firmware opens up some of the API's. Open your camera app and can you tap any point on the screen to focus on that point? Or does the camera focus on the center only? Center only, you need the firmware. Anywhere on the screen, you're current.

i can use compass and the camera can focus anywhere on the screen, does that mean that my firmware is the current one?im using samsung omnia 7 and i forced the mango update

The "force the update" hack only works once the update is being delivered, and effectively bypasses throttling. HD7S users could not update using the hack because the HD7S update bits weren't on the servers. If this rumor is true, then the hack might start to work since throttling is still in place. But until there are confirmed reports of people getting Mango on their HD7S starting from 7390 NoDo and not 7712 Mango Beta 2 (AT&T did push that update), I will assume this is just a rumor.

Ive been trying the update hack unsuccessfully and scouring the web all day for evidence this is true with no success. Guess the day isn't over yet, so a man can still hope...

Just tried 6:35PM PST, no joy, both with and without the hack. Dammit, AT&T! Stop jerking us around.

No Joy here either :-(I would really like an honest explanation for the delay. It doesn't take 2 weeks to "Schedule" something like this. I suspect that either AT&T was actually still testing the update, or that MSoft has delayed action on the HD7s update in order to "Throttle up" everyone else so they can make the best claim regarding the sped of the rollout. When will these guys stop treating their Customers like mushrooms and tell us how they are progressing. No info for for 2 weeks while the web is nothing but Mango Updates and software you can't install is irritating enough. Not knowing when it will end is unnecessary irritation they shouldn't create.
