In the spirit of Jack and the Beanstalk and the Three Little Pigs, DiNoGames is offering Beanstalk Tale over at the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace.
The fairy tale oriented platform game where you play the role of a pig who is trying to bounce his way to the top of the beanstalk. You bounce from leaf to leaf by tilting your Windows Phone left or right.
You can speed things up by catching a ride on a balloon but be careful not to run into a hornet. If your balloon bursts you can land safely on a leaf and continue bouncing your way up the beanstalk or fall to your demise.
Ease on past the break to see what impression this Windows Phone game left with us.
I have to admit, Beanstalk Tale grew on me. Movement control can be tricky and it will take a few tries to gauge how far to tilt your phone.
You are only afforded one "life" so if you slip and fall, it's game over. I'm not sure I like that aspect (three lives would be nice) but I found myself going back for more, especially if I made a boneheaded move. On the plus side, there is a pause button at the bottom left corner of the screen if you need to catch your breath.
The game has nice graphics but is heavily dependent on earth tones. I'm not against the browns and greens but the tones give the game a dark feel to it.
All in all, Beanstalk Tale is worth taking a look at. It's not going to tickle everyone's fancy but if you like platform games you may take a liking to it. Beanstalk Tale is being offered at the Marketplace for $.99 and there is a free trial version available.
You can check Beanstalk Tale out here. The gaming app has been recently updated to include a holiday and doodle theme to give the game a more variety. The holiday theme puts the main character in a Santa suit while the doodle theme gives the game a more cartoon feel.
