Beyond Good and Evil 2 gets new combat and flying footage

Beyond Good and Evil 2 was announced at E3 2017 after years of speculation, but Ubisoft chose not to divulge a lot of information about the game. The only glimpse we got was some preproduction gameplay which focused on spaceflight and third-person exploration. Luckily, that changed today as the company revealed new footage with various spaceships and skill-based combat.

The Beyond Good and Evil 2 video features new gameplay footage on how players can navigate the world using a jetpack and ship. You can travel together with friends by forming "Armadas". Additionally, combat is rather elaborate with lots of acrobatic moves. Mastering exploration and combat mechanics will require some practice it seems.

In Beyond Good and Evil 2, players journey to "System 3", for the prequel to one of Ubisoft's most beloved games. You can fight alongside unforgettable characters in a new solar system, as you struggle for freedom and the right to determine your own fate. According to the publisher, you can play by yourself or with friends in a vast and seamless online playground.

System 3 has become the center of interstellar trade and colonization in the Milky Way due to the creation of "Hybrid Slaves". While private enterprises fight over resources and power, the first colonists weave together the rich and diverse cultural heritage of "Old Earth" to give meaning to their existence. In this new era of piracy, players will rise from a lowly pirate to a legendary captain.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 is more of a spiritual successor to the cult classic. The solar system is vast and takes place in a multicultural world, capturing the essence of the original with intense drama that plays out across vast distances.
