Birdsong v1.3 hits Marketplace, sports Live Tile & Notifications

We mentioned earlier today about the Twitter app Birdsong v1.3 coming and 'hello!' here it is. This version now sports a Live Tile, push notifications for new mentions and direct messages as well as a 'reply all' feature.

But lets look at that Push Notification system. It actually does something we've never seen before: adds a "do not disturb" option, meaning you can set the hours at which it won't make a noise to alert you. We really dig that feature.

And while some of our messages were a little slow to notify us, we're just going to chalk that up to their servers warming up. Overall though, it's a nice upgrade for the app. The full version fetches for $0.99 and you can grab it here. Don't forget to see our hands on video for a quick tour of the Twitter app.

"FailWhoops - that didn't work, please try again"For both live tile and push notifications upon hitting save.Annoyed.

Man, the guys from Red Badger and Rowi are really fighting it out for Twitter supremacy on WP7. I love it! Live tile no worky for me. Back to Rowi!

For all of you with Live Tile issues, I am 99% sure its because your Endpoints registry key has gotten clogged up with entries. Right now there are only two fixes: with an unlocked device clear the key, or with locked devices hard reset. Microsoft knows about this issue and although it may be more complicated than I explain here they should provide a short term solution, like an app or Setting to reset this key, until they can implement a longer term, permanent solution.Pretty soon, no ones Live Tiles will work, except mine. I clear out that key every three or four weeks and have 9 working tiles right now. Will probably reinstall Birdsong later today and give this tile a try.

Live Tile registered OK, but no notifications yet. Still like the way that Tweet makes the avatar smaller so part of the message wraps around it. Can squeeze more info on the page. I also like Tweets time stamp. Birdsong says I have two new messages but the timeline says, one 42 minutes ago and two about an hour ago. So which two are the new ones. Tweet also identifies new messages better. If Tweet had a live tile I wouldn't bother looking for alternatives.
