A representative for BlackBerry indicated that the long awaited BBM app beta test for Windows Phone should start sometime on Thursday, even as the messaging app itself has already been updated following its appearance last week in the Windows Phone Store.

The word on the BBM beta launch date was given by Jeff Gadway, the head of product and brand marketing for BBM, via his Twitter feed earlier today. No other information was revealed and it's also possible that the company's plans could still change. BlackBerry began to take sign ups for the Windows Phone BBM beta app less than a week ago and the company closed the registration process) after less than 24 hours, putting the rest of the requests on a waitlist.

There's no word on how many people will participate in the Windows Phone BBM beta test. Since its appearance last week, the app's version number got a minor update to but naturally there's no word on what was included in that update. Are you looking forward to the BBM app beta?
