Boost the sound on Samsung Focus - Take 2

A few weeks ago, we reported on a tweak to boost the sound on the Samsung Focus (as if it wasn't loud enough). Turns out, we were a little premature as the settings did not stick.

Flash forward 10 days later and looks like the folks at XDA figured it out, so we figured we'd do an update. We also have a new one that boosts the volume when using a headphones (the Focus turns the overall volume down for obvious reasons).

The process is similar: using the Samsung Diagnosis app, enter in some values. Done. For this, we can definitely confirm the headphones are much louder...probably too loud, but you can decide. And both stick after a reboot. Post results in comments or our Focus sub-forum!

Full instructions after the break...

  • ##634#  --> Call
  • *#0002*28346#

  • In the second box put 16000
  • In the third box put 0
  • Click Set
  • Click Start
  • Click the home button
  • Restart your phone. To verify the setting took click the get button and it should show your values

Boost Headphone Volume

Boost the sound on Samsung Focus - Take 2

Works great, but you're right--the sound is too loud now! And of course I'm an idiot and didn't write down the original settings. Can anyone help me out here?

Wow, that's loud. Too loud for me. Anyone have the original settings for both headphone and speaker volumes?

If you hit "Get" it will tell you the factory setting (assuming you haven't changed it yet). Could someone please do this and list the factory settings?

      Original Settings:

      Speakers:

      System Gain Attenuation
      7 130 0

      Class Gain Attenuation
      7 0 5

      Device Gain (max/min)
      7 1200 -500

      Headphones:

      System Gain Attenuation
      5 145 0

      Class Gain Attenuation
      5 0 36

      Device Gain (max/min)
      5 400 -1100

      I hope that's everything!

      BEWARE!

This morning I tried the first option to increase the sound on my Focus and now I cannot get the phone to turn on at all. I have resorted to a hard reset and even that is hung. Sadly I am probably going to have to make a trip to the ATT store.

BEWARE! Earlier this morning I tried the setting to increase the phone volume and now the phone won't boot up. I've also tried a hard reset and it is stuck on the download windows. I am probably going to need to go to the ATT store - argh!

For me this did not work until I hit Stop after Start. Even then, the volume does not presist after a reboot. The setting persists, but I have to go into the Diagnostics and hit Start/Stop again.

Are these instructions different now that the nodo is out? Because once I dial ##634#, without pressing call, it takes me to the 2nd dialer. Then does nothing for the 2nd number. The only key on the dialer - other than numbers, * and # - is for backspace. No call or enter button.Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
