If you've picked up a laptop with support for Thunderbolt 3, CalDigit has introduced a couple of new docks at CES 2017 that should interest you. Called the Thunderbolt Station 3 and Thunderbolt Station 3 Lite, both look like solid ways to add a slew of extra ports to your setup.
First up is the Thunderbolt Station 3, which is the slightly chunkier of the two. That's for good reason, as the dock has the ability to charge whatever laptop it's connected to. Otherwise, the dock includes 2 Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports, 3 USB 3.1 ports, a single DisplayPort, 2 eSATA, gigabit ethernet and audio in/out ports.
The Thunderbolt Station 3 Lite, on the other hand, is largely the same, but sacrifices the ability to charge whatever it's connected to in favor of a smaller size and lower price tag. And though it features almost all of the same port types as its chunkier brother, you'll find one fewer USB 3.1 and no eSATA ports. Both docks have the ability to support dual 4K displays or a single 5K monitor as well.
The Thunderbolt Station 3 and 3 Lite are up for pre-order now at reduced prices of $200 and $170, respectively. Both are set for release in the first quarter of 2017, and prices will shift to $200 for the Station 3 Lite and $250 for the Station 3 at that point.
