If you were a fan of the insanely fun and quirky Castle Crashers, you'll be happy to know that a remastered version of the game is set to land for the Xbox One on September 9. Castle Crashers Remastered will take the original fun and add some new features to the mix. Here's the lowdown:

-New multiplayer mini-game called Back Off Barbarian -Five times larger texture sizes than the original! -Twice the framerate of the original! (60 frames per second) -Performance updates, gameplay tweaks -Online multiplayer performance updates -Ability to find games easier and quicker online

The game will initially be available for $14.99 for Xbox One owners in North America, with more countries to follow. As a bonus, if you owned the original Castle Crashers on the Xbox 360, you'll be able to grab the remastered version for free through September 20 if you're a current Xbox Live Gold member. After the 20th, previous owners will still get a $5 discount on the price of the game as a loyalty discount.

If you're a much bigger fan of the original Castle Crashers and don't want all of the fancy new features, there's some news for you as well. Later this year, the original Xbox 360 title will score backwards compatibility, so you'll be able to play it on your Xbox One.

Thanks, Ken C., for the tip!
