Celebrity news magazine Glamour app now available for Windows Phone

Condé Nast Digital, the product group behind the likes of Vogue, has released an official Glamour app for Windows Phone. Glamour (website) is a popular destination for those seeking the latest news and gossip surrounding celebrities in the spotlight.

The magazine is a global hit, is localised in a number of countries, and holds an annual "Women of the Year" award in the US. Topics include hair and beauty, fashion, life and love, and the publication also sports a number of competitions. Glamour for Windows Phone enables users to keep up-to-date with what's happening in glittered lifestyles while on the go.

The app itself is very Metrofied (soon we'll be no longer using these names should a rename come around for the design language) and follows the website's colour scheme throughout to offer consistency when moving between the smartphone and desktop / laptop.

Advertising is present above the list of news articles, which we find slightly obstructive and would prefer to see either at the top or bottom of the screen (this is the case when viewing articles), though the banner is locked in and does not follow when scrolling. Glamour for Windows Phone not only pulls the latest headlines from the popular website, but it also displays the latest tweets from the Glamour Twitter account.

Unfortunately, while the app does enable users to share articles via social networks, it does ask you to provide credentials to said services instead of using the integrated accounts present on Windows Phone. We found this slightly odd. Overall the app is relatively basic but functional. It gets the job done, but we'd like to see Live Tile support, use of the integrated social profiles, and more.

You can download Glamour from the Marketplace for free. If you've download the app, let us know your thoughts in the comments.
