LG Fantasy

We saw some leaked images of the LG Fantasty recently, a phone long in the making and which passed the FCC earlier in 2011 with CDMA bands. The phone appeared over at XDA and while there is not a lot of info on the device, here is what we know:

LG Fantasy

  • 4" IPS display
  • 1GHz second generation CPU, scoring 85.7 on WP Bench (similar to HTC Radar)
  • 8GB of internal storage
  • 1.3MP front-facing camera; Rear camera (5MP?)
  • The device is very light
  • Three front capacitive buttons

No word if this will see the light of day anywhere--perhaps LG took too long and no carriers will pick it up? Either way, reader Brian has thrown together some high res, detailed mockups for us to compensate for those less-than-spectacular leaked images. While not a top-tier phone, it doesn't look too bad for a mid-range device and that IPS screen has us intrigued.

the camera on the back says 8MP
i wonder if LG will be selling this as an entry device equivalent to the flash and the radar, or a bigger phone like the focus S. Hopefully, they go with the former, as this would be a great phone for new customers that want a 4 inch screen but don't want to pay for phones like the focus S or the titan.
also, is that really an IPS screen? idk how it'll look on a phone, but on my friend's computer monitor, it is outstanding. the colours are accurate and fantastic.

...8gb? Well anything low-end or midrange will probably come to T-Mobile. As of yet they have not delivered on serious competing, second generation Windows Phone. But that doesn't mean 2012 will be the same.

Why does it say "Rear camera (5MP?)" when the render shows 8MP. If its not clear then my guess would be 8MP.

EDIT: Because the render is completely just made up for WpCentral...

8GB of internal storage SUCKS. Minimum 16Gb should be common place already. THis substandard amount of storage makes WP7 look silly.

Completely agree.  How much more lightweight can WP look?  Not only should 16GB be the requirement, we need to start seeing some 32GB storage on the higher end WP's if there will be no expandable memory.

As for the Fantasy, Sprint is the only place that releasing this makes sense.  LTE Nokia's are the rumor for Verizon down the road, and Sprint hopefully could find a place to market this.

I agree as well! This makes me so mad, there's hardly any phones with any decent amount of storage. I want 64Gb, and it would help the price go down if they used that amount much more often.
