Verizon HTC 8X BestBuy

Best Buy is offering the Verizon HTC 8X for $199.99 when taken with a new 2-year contract. The flagship HTC Windows Phone 8 handset on offer supports 4G LTE, is tied to Verizon's network and comes in beautiful blue.

The 8X is HTC's beast in the road to Windows Phone 8 greatness. Dual-core 1.5Ghz CPU, 1GB RAM, 16GB storage and the Verizon version has been confirmed to include wireless charging functionality, much like what we've seen in both the Lumia 820 and Lumia 920 Windows Phones.

We've known the pricing point of the HTC 8X for a while with previous leaks confirming both the HTC hardware and Nokia Lumia 822. If attached contracts aren't really your thing, Best Buy also has the device unactivated for $649.99.

Note that according to the listing the HTC 8X sports a MicroSD slot, which it unfortunately doesn't. Only the HTC 8S enables the use of removable media in HTC's Windows Phone 8 line-up.

According to the product listing, the HTC 8X is available in-store for the time being. No word on availability, but we've previously looked at Thanksgiving being the target for release. As we reported earlier, apparently Verizon / Samsung don’t want the Odyssey to “interfere” with the November launch of the Galaxy Note 2.

I'm not understand the difference in prince between the L920 vs 8x. There must be some kind of gimmick involved here.

Does anyone know? The only reason I wouldnt touch this device, was the abysmal 16GB. But if it has an SD slot, this changes everything.

Buyer Beware!  The 8X falls short in many areas.  Not only is it a poor copy of the 920 form factor, but it is also missing the SD card slot, removable/replaceable battery, gyroscope, and other lackluster features.  With the success of the HTC One in the Android market, it puzzles me as to why HTC would want to mess with success.  No one would kick the HTC One to the curb if it ran WP8.  They are supposed to have other offerings before the Summer of 2013.  It will be interesting to see what they come up with.

The difference is price is based on carrier and OEM's. Nokia is in a position where they HAVE to price them to move and since it's exclusive to ATT, they probably worked out some heavy subsidies. HTC in the other hand has the 8x available on other carriers and probably doesn't feel as "desperate" (in their minds) as Nokia. Not to mention, it's not like one company knows what the other will price their phone at. As the "official" phone for Windows Phone HTC probably thought their pricing would be in line with what Nokia would charge for the 920, $149-$199.

I have the HTC 8X without LTE, only issue is battery life which is not good, HTC needs to release a pwr mgmt firmware update. Otherwise the phone is great.

That sounds like a pass to me. If the 8X doesn't have good battery life without LTE, how bad will it be with it? HTC has to work on battery life, its been a main complaint of entirely too many of their phones.

I don't know why anyone would ever purchase a CDMA phone without a contract. Its not like you can take it to another carrier easily :/

The last time I tried to do it, the phone was a global version that supported GSM frequencies desirable to my carrier, but Verizon locked the sim card slot from working with any U.S. carrier anywaywa, which lost the sale.

It shames me to no end that this phone is more expensive than the Lumia 920. I was actually going to get this 8x, but this off contract pricing made my mind up for me. I'm on ATT. Nokia it is. I'd be stupid not to at this price with all the support and exclusives.

Just checked out at Best Buy, there's none in stock. The woman who worked there also told me that there aren't ANY in-store anywhere near me. She said "Nobody has it." As in no one even GOT them.

This sucks. I really wanted to jump ship to wp8 but i have to pay full price because my contract doesn't end until April. I'm on Verizon so the 8x was the only choice for the specs. I'm considering waiting now until my contract expires to see what else there is out there...

Just spoke to another Best Buy assistant. She told me the 8x will be coming to them IN STORE on Monday, 11/12. No word on Verizon release or store availability...

Yes madogfl62 is right no sd card. that's why for the time being i'm oppting for the lumia 822 it does have an sd card slot, until Verizon can get there hands on the 920 I hope.
