There are a handful of Windows Phone developers out there that offer a diverse portfolio of apps and games. XIMAD, Inc qualifies as such with offerings ranging from children's books to bible apps to games.
XIMAD has had a presence in the Windows Phone Store from early on (back when we called it a Marketplace) and for this week's roundup, we'll concentrate on the gaming aspects of their collection. Most of XIMAD's games are free but for those who want to drop the ad banners, there's often a paid premium version available.
The XIMAD collection of games are often on the simple side as far as game play is concerned but challenging and entertaining nonetheless and nice ways to pass the time with. There's even a few that will get you hooked into playing a little longer. We picked a handful that we think you might like and if we've missed your favorite XIMAD title, feel free to share in the comments.
Bubble Birds 2 (free): Bubble Birds 2 (as well as the original Bubble Birds) is a simple game where you have to launch colored birds into a playing field to match at least three or more of the same colored birds. The playing field is populated with a variety of colored birds that slowly grows in population, advancing it towards the bottom of the screen.
Create the match and the birds disappear, you earn points and you delay the playing field from advancing to the bottom of the screen. Score enough points without the mass of birds reaching the bottom of the screen and you advance to the next level.
Bubble Birds 2 has bonus birds that will help you eliminate the advancing birds and coins that can be collected and used to advance through the levels of the game. There's not much too Bubble Birds 2 but it is an entertaining, slightly addictive game for your Windows Phone.
Bubble Birds 2 is a free, ad-supported game that you can find here in the Windows Phone Store.
Brain Cube Reloaded (free/$2.99): Brain Cube Reloaded is a puzzle game where you have to maneuver a robot cube through various mazes. The challenge is that you can only move your robot cube by flipping or rolling him about.
Movements are done by swiping at the robot to flip him one way or roll him another. The maze is a collection of space tiles that limit which direction the robot can flip or roll, which can make the game rather challenging.
Your score is based on the time it takes you to navigate to the green cube. Brain Cube Reloaded is a challenging, sometimes frustrating game that will test your patience and concentration.
Brain Cube Reloaded is a free, ad-supported game for your Windows Phone and you can find it here in the Windows Phone Store. There is also a premium version of Brain Cube Reloaded that is running $2.99 and you can find it here at the Store.
De-Bugs (free): De-Bugs is a matching game where you have to clear a pond of different colored bugs by bouncing them off one another. When you bounce two of the same colored bugs off each other, they fly off and you earn points.
Each move will cost you points so you'll need to eliminate the bugs as efficiently as possible.
Once you clear the pond, you advance to the next watering hole where there's always just a few more bugs to clear. Don't worry if you end up leaving one straggler bug behind, the game will generate another. It'll cost you a few points because of the extra moves clearing the pond requires.
De-Bugs is a free, ad-supported game for your Windows Phone and you can find it here in the Windows Phone Store.
Pandas vs Ninjas 2 (free): Not sure when it started but apparently Pandas and Ninjas aren't the best-est of friends. A good portion of XIMAD's gaming catalog is dedicated to the conflict between the ninjas and pandas. You have the original Pandas vs. Ninjas, Ninja Shooter, Ninja Breakout, and Kung Fu Tic Tac Toe to name a few.
Pandas vs. Ninjas 2 is the latest installment for this genre of games. Much like the original, Pandas vs. Ninjas is an Angry Birds styled game where you play the role of the Panda. You hurl various objects at the ninja fortifications in an effort to wipe them out.
Each gaming level has multiple fortifications to destroy before you can advance to the next, more challenging level.
Pandas vs. Ninjas 2 is a free, ad-supported game for your Windows Phone that you can find here in the Windows Phone Store.
Chalk Master (free): Chalk Master is a ball in the basket styled game drawn up on a chalk board. You have a blue ball drawn up on the board that you have to toss into a waste basket, that's also drawn on the board.
The challenge comes in navigating your toss over, around and through various obstacles that are also drawn up on the chalk board. You only get one shot at success and if you miss, just tap the restart bubble.
Chalk Master has over 130 levels spread over three stages. Each level gets a little more challenging than the last.
As with many of XIMAD's games, Chalk Master doesn't have many bells and whistles and that's not necessarily a bad thing. With 130 levels of play that are added to with updates, Chalk Master has plenty of gaming and isn't a bad choice to pass the time with.
Chalk Master is a free, ad-supported game for your Windows Phone that you can grab here in the Windows Phone Store.
XIMAD's Windows Phone app and game collection is comprised of over seventy titles. Some are premium version of the free versions, some are games, some are reference and some are interactive children's books.
As far as the games are concerned, XIMAD has a nice collection of challenging, somewhat addictive games that are nice options when you're looking for something to pass the time with.
If you have a favorite XIMAD Windows Phone app or game, feel free to speak up in the comments and let us know.
