ProShot for Windows Phone 8 updated, adds burst mode and more

ProShot

ProShot is an app for your Windows Phone 8 device that delivers a ton of features to your camera. The app was recently updated to version 2.2 that piles a few more features into the mix, including a new look.

Most notable is the addition of a burst mode that allows you to capture images at five frames per second. The burst mode interface is a little on the cumbersome side but after a while it becomes second nature.

ProShot Burst and Auto Aspect Ratio

Once you've lined up your shot, press and hold the screen until a "burst" symbol appears. Once you see the symbol, press the shutter button and the camera begins capturing up to fifteen images at a rate of 5 frames per second.

Other features of the version 2.2 update include:

  • Support for portrait user interface
  • Auto aspect ratio added
  • Improved user interface animation
  • Histogram moved out of beta
  • Chinese language support added
  • Various bug fixes and user interface tweaks

You'll also note a different icon and splash screen for ProShot to add to the slightly new appearance. Overall the ProShot update adds to a very nice Windows Phone 8 app. ProShot is a great alternative to the native Windows Phone camera app for those looking for a little more control over things.

ProShot Screens

There is a trial version available for ProShot to let you try things out. The full version of ProShot is currently running $1.99 and you can find it here in the Store. Due to it being a lens app, it's for Windows Phone 8 only.

Is it possible to shoot images without any noise reduction applied?  Or is that deeper in the software/hardware and unadjustable by ProShot?

Also worth mentioning: There's now an option to disable "Prompt On Exit" and the app icon now uses your theme color.

The new burst function is great, but it would be even better if it could be combined with a 5/10/15 second delay.  Some of us have tri-pods on our keychains.  :)

It would be nice if there was an option to sacrifice shooting speed for full-res burst shots.  Or if possible, wait to perform image processing until all images are captured, like my Sony and Canon cameras do.

Was the battery percentage already there in previous versions? Anyway, I Like it, live histogram and ev slider are great. Recommended!!!

I like this app just wish they would add a night mode preset like on the stock camera app then it would be my only camera app.

You can set it up yourself, in one of the custom modes. ISO to auto or 800, flash to off, assist light to on, etc.

FAs a Lumia920 user, my ProShot app doesn't have some of the setting choices the screen shots show... Like white balance. Why are these missing?

Thanks, and I feel like a dope. M is the way to go!

Its in auto mode probably. You need to hit the 'A' on the top to change the modes to program or manual or for custom c1 and c2.

Would I be wasting my time adding this app to my Lumia 822? I know it doesn't have the same capabilities as the 920. Just curious.

I bought this app a couple of hours ago and I can't wait to jump in and see what I can create with its help.  I do think burst is cool, but I would get more use out of bracketed exposure and HDR imaging.  I hope those are in the development plans.  I'd also like to get some of this control over the front facing camera so I can take better pics of my most willing model! :)
