Nokia teases an upcoming waterproof Lumia 620 protective cover

A "waterproof cover" for the Lumia 620 Windows Phone is on its way according to a tweet published by Sander Teunissen, sales manager at Nokia Netherlands. Think back to the waterproof Fujitsu IS12T Windows Phone, but potentially sporting the Nokia brand and ability to take a cover off when it's not required.

Unfortunately details are rather limited on the cover, and no images have been shared so it's unknown as to what the cover will look like. The rating, IP54, states that the cover will be able to protect the Lumia 620 from both dust particles and water splashes from all directions. While you'll not be able to take the smartphone in the bath with you, it'll be more resilient to accidental exposure to liquid.

We'll keep our eyes open for further information.

I own a Ativ S now but I really want a 620 next to it. I love that design especially with this cover for holidays.

Mine picks up a good amount of dust quite quickly in my pocket. Sometimes it interferes with the proximity sensor. Compressed air, while not a permanent solution, does clear it up. I'm about to add a cover and see what that does.

If it is water proof, why can't I take it in the shower? (water proof not equal water resistant) ;-)

They need the 620 in the US. It seems to be the real Nokia must have device. From design to accessories to price, it seems to be the best device positioned to attract the kind of following Nokia is looking to recapture. The 820 is pretty impressive and the 720 is probably the best overall looking device in the Nokia Lineup, but give the 620 away for free on AT&T, Verizon and Tmobile, paired with the App that shall not be spoken until it arrives on the platform and I think you have 10% market share in a year.

Sorry I am a Nokia fan but having to place a case on my phone and make it thick and ugly no thanks what happened to there nano coating they were working on?Sony have an Xperia acro S, screen resolution up to 720p, a 4.3-inch screen alongside a 12-megapixel camera and dedicated shutter button. it totes IP55 and IP57 ratings for dust and water resistance.
