Fhotoroom for Windows Phone 8 updated, new camera interface and sharing options added to the mix

Fhotoroom for Windows Phone 8

Fhotoroom is a constantly evolving photography app for our Windows Phone.  We've seen the app improve over time through the various updates and the latest update, version 9.1.4, hit the airways today.

For those not familiar with Fhotoroom, it is a feature rich photo app that is part photo sharing network, part photo editor, and part camera app. The latest update, which only deals with the Windows Phone 8 version, gives Fhotoroom a new camera interface, a few security updates, an updated splashscreen, updates to the TiltShift Filter, and a few bug fixes.

Fhotoroom new camera interface

The new camera interface looks really clean and uncluttered. Flash controls, settings access, shutter button and front/rear camera toggle controls line the right side of the viewfinder. When you need to adjust a camera setting, just tap the settings button and your camera settings appear down the left side of the viewfinder. When you are done tweaking the camera settings, tap the settings button and the settings options disappear. Leaving you with a very clean looking viewfinder.

Settings include:

  • A Point Exposure Value which is basically a spot light meter to let you set your camera's exposure to a specific spot in the viewfinder
  • A self-timer with a 1-10 second delay option
  • An on-screen Rule of Thirds grid
  • Program settings for macro, scenic and portrait modes

Fhotoroom Universal Sharing

The other key aspect of the version 9.1.4 update is universal sharing which includes NFC and Bluetooth sharing. When you go to upload/share an image, just add your text and choose the "universal" sharing option. It should prompt you with the NFC Tap+Send, SMS Messaging, OneNote, Email, etc. sharing options. I say "should" because there seems to be a bug in this option that sends you back to the photo editor instead of the sharing options. We've reached out to the developer for clarification and to see if a fix is in the works.

All totaled, the recent Fhotoroom update falls in line with the previous updates. It brings a collection of useful features and tools to the table, improving on the previous version. Granted the universal sharing isn't playing nice but we suspect a fix will be on its way in no time.

If you haven't tried Fhotoroom, it is a free app for your Windows Phone that you can pick up here in the Windows Phone Store. It is available for both Windows Phone 8 and 7.x devices (as well as a Windows 8 version) but keep in mind, this current update only deals with the Windows Phone 8 version.

Fhotoroom for Windows Phone 8 updated, new camera interface and sharing options added to the mix

Windows 7.8 got an update to.  It has the new camera interface.  Although, it is missing the Marco and Point EV buttons.

Why would anyone use this app? "•If you post Content to the Service, unless we indicate otherwise, you grant Supporting Computers and its affiliates a nonexclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable and fully sublicensable right to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, perform and display such Content in connection with: (i) providing and promoting the Service; and/or (ii) exercising the rights granted in these Terms." These are my pictures and I wouldn't want to see them used by anyone else unless I sold you the rights to use them.

TechFan99 I personally hate this legal stuff but we store file on Azure, so although you are sharing with us our affiliates have to be given access to it. I will try and see if there is a way to simplify this. We occasionally use photo in our Twitter feed to show just how amazing they can be so there is an example of how we promote our selves and once again twitter is now involved.

Why use this service I can give a hell of a lot, this app is also 100% free, we have never put an ad or asked anything of anyone other than to share our love of photography and WP. Sorry if our legal obligation as put you off of our service.

That is what most users tell us, that and they actually have more followers and get more likes. The WP community is top notch and ppl who really love photography.

ty, and it scales from WP7 256MB right upto WP8 Lumia1020 with virtually the identical experience and features.

I love that case...anyone know who makes it?  I have never seen one that only wraps on the corners like that.  It's pretty sexy :)

It was available in Indonesia, but not anymore last I checked. I hope it's just a minor error. I'd really love to get my hands on it!

ok, this might be a store issue during updating, i will definitely look into this as it seems to be missing from about 4 regions added in the last few updates.

This is the most used photo app on my phone.  I'm an avid Fhotographer! :)  The speed gains have been tremendous and I'm still not sure how they do so much coding in such short amounts of time and for no revenue. I feel like I'm stealing great technology sometimes! :)
