Microsoft focuses on apps in latest Windows, Windows Phone ad

124

Apps are the focus of Microsoft's latest ad for Windows and Windows Phone as the software giant showcases some of the popular apps for its platforms. One of the long-standing concerns with Microsoft's mobile platforms on tablets and smartphones is the lack of a robust app library, especially when compared against rivals such as Android and iOS, so it's nice to see Microsoft address the situation in this new ad. In addition to highlighting some popular apps, Microsoft also shows off multitasking on its Surface Pro 3.

Review – Microsoft Wedge Touch Mouse

Often times it can be difficult for laptop and tablet users to adjust from working with their home setup to doing work on the road. Moving from a full-size external keyboard and mouse to the device's smaller keyboard and touchpad or a travel-size mouse can be uncomfortable.

As someone who works this way fairly often, I feel it is important to point out when I come across something that helps create a consistent computing experience whether I am at home using my Surface Pro 3 on its dock or working remotely at a coffee shop.

Microsoft's Wedge Touch Mouse is just such a device, though you wouldn't necessarily think so based on its design.

The Windows Phone Store is slacking but your favorite apps are still there

87

Every once in awhile the Windows Phone Store throws a small tantrum causing apps to not be properly indexed by the system. As a result, many of you begin to think your favorite apps have been "pulled" or "deleted" or "removed" from the Store, all due to some mysterious reason.

As it turns out, nine times out of ten the apps are still there, accessible via a direct Store link. Very rarely are apps actually removed. Case in point, Skype, Vine, and Rudy Huyn's apps are all still alive and well on the Store.

Reviewed: Fitbit Charge

Fitness trackers seem to be attracting quite of bit of attention lately, and those looking for a tracker have a wide variety of options to consider. But while there are plenty of available options — one company seems to have risen to the top in terms of market share. Fitbit, who first launched back on October 2007, is closing in on 70 percent of the market with the number two player sitting down in the teens.

The stats by themselves may show Fitbit as being a dominant player, but that doesn't necessarily mean a Fitbit branded tracker will be the best option for everyone. That being said, given the wide range of models and price points — as well as the wide range of mobile device support — Fitbit does seem like a good place to start looking. We've seen the folks at Fitbit release several trackers over the years, including some that clip to your waistband, and some that are worn on the wrist. Just last month the Fitbit lineup grew by three. The new models include the Charge, Charge HR, and the Surge — and we took one of them for a spin over the last week.
