Sync or update your Band with the Microsoft Band Sync app for Windows or Mac

59

The Microsoft Band Sync app for Windows or Mac lets you sync your Band to the cloud while it is connected via USB cable. Your phone can already sync your Microsoft Band, but Microsoft says this method syncs faster than your phone while your device is charging over USB.

Another reason why you would want this app on your Mac or PC is that it lets you get updates and restore the software on your Microsoft Band.

Microsoft Band is out of stock in all sizes on the Microsoft Store site

208

The Microsoft Band made quite a splash with its brisk unveiling, and since then stock of all three sizes on the Microsoft Store has completely dried up. At $199 it isn't exactly in "impulse buy" range for many people, and you have to think Microsoft had quite a few of them in anticipation of the launch, so a complete sell out is interesting to see.

Watch the replay of our second Halo: the Master Chief Collection preview stream!

27

Last night we hosted one of our most exciting Twitch streams yet. Hundreds of viewers tuned in to get an early look at Halo: the Master Chief Collection for Xbox One. Yours truly played through one mission each from Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary and Halo 2: Anniversary.

I absolutely didn't remember where to go in either mission, and sometimes I struggled against the Covenant hordes (especially the Hunters in Halo: CE). But we all had a great time, met some new readers and viewers, and maybe even learned a little something about life. See yesterday's post for archive videos of both games.

Tonight's stream focused on Halo 3 and 4. These two games haven't received the same level of enhancement as Halo and Halo 2, but they still look and run better than ever on Xbox One – especially Halo 4. The stream has now ended and prizes have been awarded. Check out our replay videos to see both games in action!

One of the first things you should do with Microsoft Band is enable Watch Mode

121

When you stop playing with the Microsoft Band, by default, the display turns black. It looks kind of boring, but you can enable Watch Mode so that your Microsoft Band turns into a digital wristwatch. The time and date will be displayed when the screen times out. It's like the Glance screen for Windows Phone. Here's how to enable it.

You do not need Lumia Cyan to use the Microsoft Band

129

Lots of news happening today regarding Microsoft and their new fitness smart Band and one of the big questions people have: Do you need Lumia Cyan? The thinking here is Lumia Cyan disabled Bluetooth Smart aka Bluetooth LE, ergo it cannot work with a device like the Verizon Lumia Icon. Right?

Luckily, for you we just successfully paired up our Lumia Icon running Windows Phone 8.1 Preview for Developers, not even the latest version, and we had zero issues synchronizing and pairing.

Microsoft Band: Unboxing and hands-on tour of Microsoft's new 'smart' wearable

360

Late last night, Microsoft in a surprise move announced the Band, a new health and fitness wearable that includes a heart rate monitor, UV sensor, Cortana integration and a gorgeous color touch display.

Perhaps even more impressive, the $199 is available today from Microsoft Stores and online. Stock is limited and, unfortunately, the Band is U.S. only for now as Microsoft tests out the waters.

I managed to pick one up this morning. Here is a full unboxing, tour, and how the Band interacts with Windows Phone.
