This is the special golden edition Nokia Lumia 930

206

In early January, Microsoft officially announced special golden editions of its Lumia 830 and Lumia 930 smartphones for various markets, including Europe, Asia Pacific and China, and India, the Middle East and Africa. Coming in either matte black or glossy white, the gold-framed versions of the latest Lumias add a little sophistication to the previously colorful devices.

I managed to get my hands on the matte black gold Lumia 930, which can be found unlocked for around $430, including on eBay. Here are some photos and a video to show you what it is all about.

Closer look: Windows 10 January Preview includes new OneNote for Office Touch

132

Yesterday, Microsoft let loose the latest overhaul of the nascent Windows 10 operating system aka build 9926. There are hundreds of changes throughout – some big, some small – but one interesting find you may not yet have noticed is the new OneNote for Office Touch.

Although it was known that the new Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint would not be in this build, the status of OneNote was not heavily discussed. Most of us presumed that the same touch-friendly version of OneNote would be included, but instead we are getting a peek at the new Touch Office version.

Top Rated Windows Games for tablets (or anything else running Windows 8 for that matter)

Windows Central Roundup: Top Windows 8 Games

We are taking a slight change of pace for this week's roundup. Instead of focusing on apps for Windows Phone, we are going to take a look at a few of the top rated Windows games.

An HP Stream 8 tablet was left under the tree with my name on it this past Christmas. While my Windows Phone is my primary device for gaming these days, I'm finding the 8" Windows tablet can hold its own rather well. I think in many respects a tablet is more amenable to gaming than a laptop or desktop, especially when touch screen controls are in play.

I've plucked four gaming titles from the Windows Store (plus a few honorable mentions) that I have found to be nice gaming options when you need the elbowroom a tablet offers. Many of these gaming options are available for your Windows Phone and I'll add the download links with those titles for the Windows Phone Store and make not if the version is available for low-memory Windows Phones.

How to disable Cortana from the task bar in Windows 10 Preview

75

One of the prominent new features in the task bar in the Windows 10 Technical Preview is the Cortana search box to the right of the Start button. It's a really great tool to have close at hand, but, it does also use up quite a bit of real estate. So, it's understandable you might want to make it go away – especially if you can't use Cortana right now.

Fortunately, that's really simple.

Over-hype expert Peter Molyneux warns Microsoft not to do the same for HoloLens

142

Famed game designer, and former Microsoft executive, Peter Molyneux has offered his own opinions on the recently revealed Microsoft HoloLens holographic headset, stating that the company should be careful not to over-promise the capabilities of the device. Update rolling out for Appy Weather, adds severe weather notifications

19

Appy Weather is a somewhat modest Windows Phone weather app that delivers the forecast with a slight personal tone. It presents the forecast conditions in your traditional sense but adds how the expected conditions will compare with the current. The minimalistic design looks good and while there are some features we'd like to see added, Appy Weather does a very nice job of things.

The Windows Phone app has seen a flurry of updates over the past months that have added new features and customizations to the mix. The most recent update pushed out this morning sending the weather app to version 1.3. The version 1.3 update for Appy Weather most notably adds the ability to re-organize the settings menu, more options for notifications, and severe weather alert notifications.
