DailyMotion receives a much needed update on the Xbox One Preview

DailyMotion is among the first Universal Windows Platform apps to hit the Xbox One. Unfortunately, the video hosting site's app isn't the most polished we have ever seen, as Richard Devine attested in his recent overview.

Thankfully, the app has already received an update, which brings some much-needed improvements.

Here's everything that today's update contains, courtesy of the Xbox One Preview Forums:

Today the Dailymotion universal app received a new update which resolves a number of issues.

If you haven't yet tried out Dailymotion, you'll find it in the Store :) .

Fixes

  • Navigation fixes for the Home page, User page, and My user page.
  • You can now disable the mini player by going to the Settings page.
  • Resolved some user interface issues with the mini player.
  • Resolved user interface issues on the Home page, User page, and Search.

Unlike many first wave UWP apps to hit the Xbox One, DailyMotion has adapted its interface for the console, adding bespoke commands for the controller buttons in place of a joystick-bound cursor. Despite today's welcome update, there is still a ton of work that could be done to improve the app, which suffers from unintuitive navigation and unresponsive media controls.

Other Universal apps that recently hit the Xbox One Preview include Microsoft's Windows Camera app, and the popular Reddit app Baconit. Thanks to UWP, the Xbox One is set to receive tons of new apps and features in the coming months, as developers can target their Windows apps at the living room for the first time. Stay tuned for more.
