Dell's Latitude 12 Rugged Tablet is designed for extreme conditions

Dell's range of Rugged notebooks is getting a new addition in the form of the Latitude 12 Rugged Tablet, a 11.6-inch tablet designed for extreme conditions. Targeted at the military, first responders, adventurers and industrial workers, the tablet can withstand spills, sand and dust, drops from over four feet and extreme temperatures ranging from -20 to 145 degrees Fahrenheit.

In terms of hardware, the Latitude 12 Rugged Tablet features a 11.6-inch multitouch glove-compatible display with a resolution of 1366x768, fifth-generation Intel Core M CPU, up to 512GB SSD, Wi-Fi ac, built-in GPS, optional cellular connectivity and 12-hour battery life. Inclusion of Intel vPro and Intel TPM 1.2 ensure data security on the go.

Dell is also selling an optional keyboard accessory that comes with RGB backlight and IP65 certification that connects through a pogo-pin interface. The tablet runs Windows 8.1 out of the box, and will be available in the U.S. by the end of July. Pricing will be announced at the time of launch.
