Today is the final day to buy a new Xbox One console for the price of $349 (without Kinect) or $449 (with Kinect). Microsoft's $50 holiday price cut, which began in early November, will end after today, January 3, as the company reminded us earlier this week.
That also means that today is the last day to take advantage of a number of special deals offered by online retailers, many of which are giving out free gift cards, controllers, or 12 months of Xbox Live Gold when customers buy an Xbox One, in addition to the $50 price cut.
There's been a lot of online debate about whether or not Microsoft is making a mistake in removing this promotional deal. The company clearly benefited from the price cut in November; the Xbox One sold 1.2 million units that month in the US, beating out Sony's PlayStation 4 for the first time in several months.
