Back in Berlin, Germany a few weeks ago during Microsoft's big reveal, many people noticed the Flipboard app for Windows Phone was preloaded on a the new Lumia 730 and Lumia 830 display phones. I won't get into the politics of what happened, but you can pretty much guess that Flipboard was not announced that day. Instead, it is still Coming Soon™.

This morning though, a link for the app has been spotted on the Store. As you may have learned from the headline, you cannot yet download it, making this likely blocked by the developers until they are ready to announce it, or it is a private beta, meant for internal testing.

For now, we are just trying to nip this in the bud as technically there is no news here.

Regardless, as you can see from the pictures, Flipboard is very much like the Windows 8 app, which was released last year. Why is it taking so long? Your guess is as good as ours, but seeing as the app is only for Windows Phone 8.1 may have something to do with, as perhaps the company is waiting for enough users to have that OS version to take advantage of their product. Still, at least you can see the sample images.

Our guess is that Flipboard is on the cusp of going live, and it will likely happen sometime in the future, just not today. We will keep you posted. Never heard of Flipboard? Is is nothing more than a news aggregator that presents articles from the internet in 'magazine style.'
