Freshly leaked renders give us a peek at the Lumia 550

Avid leaker Evan Blass (aka @evleaks) has come through again, this time with renders of Microsoft's upcoming budget entry, the Lumia 550. The render, seen above, largely lines up with what we've previously reported, carrying over the design of the current Lumia 640, which it is expected to replace. Besides looking just like the Lumia 640, the 550 is expected to sport front-facing flash as one of its main selling points.. Here's a breakdown of the expected specs that we've previously reported:

Lumia 550 'Saimaa' RM-1127

  • 1.1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 quad-core (unconfirmed)
  • Removable SD
  • 8 GB internal storage
  • 4.7-inch 720 x 1280 AMOLED display
  • Glossy White or Black polycarbonate
  • On-screen keys
  • Metal around the display
  • Displaces Lumia 640
  • LTE
  • Speaker lower left on the rear
  • Rear camera with flash
  • Front-facing camera with flash

It's unclear if we'll see the Lumia 550 unveiled at Microsoft's October 6 event, where we are definitely expecting to see the company's next flagships, the Lumia 950 and 950 XL. However, there's a chance that Microsoft may very well slip the announcement of its next budget device in, and we'll be there to bring you the latest.
