Gears of War 4's Horde 3.0 and Arms Race modes to be demoed at PAX West

Microsoft has announced it will be showing off the Horde 3.0 mode for the Xbox One and Windows 10 sci-fi shooter Gears of War 4 at Seattle's PAX West gaming event on Sept. 2-5. It will also be showing an all new Versus multiplayer mode called Arms Race at PAX West.

Microsoft is being secretive at the moment about what Arms Race is all about, but Xbox Wire does have a little info on what players can expect from Horde 3.0:

You'll get 30 minutes to try and beat 10 waves of Horde 3.0 on Normal Difficulty with 4 squad mates, along with a coach from The Coalition to help you make the most of your time. Every time you complete your Horde session at our booth, you'll also walk away with one of our awesome Physical Gear Packs which unlock in-game content (and make for a great Gears collectible too!). We'll also be giving away one of two unique pins every day of the show – keep an eye on Facebook and Twitter to find out more.Head to the PAX Arena to really put your Horde skills to the test. The PAX Arena is the only place where you can take on the Swarm on Hardcore difficulty – be one of the first teams to beat all 10 waves within the allotted time, and you'll walk away with some special Gears of War merchandise! Grab your friends and bring them to the Arena to see if you're up for the challenge.

NVIDIA and Alienware will also be showing a part of Gears of War 4's campaign running on Windows 10 PCs at their PAX West booth. The game is due for release on October 11, and people who purchase the Ultimate Edition will be able to play the game on October 7.
