Gears of War Ultimate Collection

Microsoft has just made buying the Gears of War: Ultimate Collection for the Xbox One an even better value. The graphically remastered sci-fi shooter, due for release on August 25, will also include free copies of all four Gears of War games (Gears of War, Gears of War 2, Gears of War 3 and Gears of War: Judgment) for the Xbox 360. All of those games will be able to be played on the Xbox One via its upcoming backwards compatibility feature.

The free game offer will expire on December 31, and Gears of War: Ultimate Collection owners will still have to wait a little while after the game is released before all four Xbox 360 Gears games are available via backwards compatibility. People who are signed up for the Xbox One preview program can check out the backwards compatible version of the original Gears game for the Xbox 360 right now if they already own the game.

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition for the Xbox One will still contain a graphically remastered version of the original Xbox 360 release, along with new cinematics, achievements and all of the extra game missions that were previously included only on the PC version of the game. Owners will also be able to access the multiplayer beta test for the upcoming Gears 4 game for the Xbox One in 2016.
