geoDefense Swarm makes a 'hexy' Xbox Deal of the Week on Windows Phone

Three straight weeks of Xbox games receiving more than fifty-percent discounts as the Deal of the Week has come to an end this week. It’s not all bad news though, as the sale game is actually quite good: geoDefense Swarm from Critical Thought Games. It’s now on sale for $1.99, down from $2.99.

Head past the break for more Swarm details, plus news of October's Frightful Games promotion.

geoDefense Swarm is the semi-sequel/spin-off to geoDefense, one of the most popular Xbox Windows Phone tower defense games. It’s not the official sequel as it takes the gameplay in a slightly different direction, plus an actual geoDefense 2 is coming to undisclosed platforms sometime in the future.

The key difference with Swarm is that enemies no longer travel along straight lines towards the player’s base. Instead, the entire playing field is made up of hexagons. Enemies can move anywhere along it, and players can put towers on most of those spaces. This gives you more freedom to build unique defenses… However, often times only one or two defenses will actually work, greatly reducing said freedom. As a result, Swarm is more challenging than its predecessor, and the difficulty of levels is still all over the place, with some Medium levels being tougher than harder ones, and all that jazz.

Still, geoDefense Swarm has the lovely neon graphics and fine assortment of towers that we loved from the first game, and some players love it just as much. Get it here on the Windows Phone Store while it’s cheap.
