Golla Gavin Phone Wallet - Review

Golla has been offering unique cases for Windows Phones for some time now. The Finnish company has built a reputation for brightly colored, solidly built, textured soft cases that have ample storage space for cash, credit cards and other items.

The Gavin Phone Wallet is a horizontal case that has a subtle design and practical functionality. The case includes extra pockets for stereo ear buds or a Bluetooth headset along with pockets for credit cards or your i.d.

With a more conservative appearance than othe Golla cases, the Gavin is large enough to handle the latest Windows Phone 7 devices such as the Samsung Focus, HTC Surround and LG Quantum. Follow the break to read more on this latest case from Golla.

Fit, Feel, and Design

The Gavin is a pouch style case with a large flap that encloses the case. The flap is secured with Velcro. Under the flap you'll find three pockets for credit cards and the main compartment for your phone.

The back of the case has a zipper pocket that is large enough for a set of earbuds or a small Bluetooth Headset (e.g. Jawbone Icon). The case is fitted with a wide belt loop that keeps the case securely fitted to your belt.

The interior of the case is lined with a soft polyester to protect the Windows Phone from scratches. The polyester shell has a slightly rough finish and a subtle design adorns the face. There is just enough padding to the case to offer protection for the phone without feeling bulky.

The case was comfortable to wear but if you prefer clips to belt loops, the Gavin may feel uncomfortable. For me, I prefer the ease of a belt clip and never got used to the belt loops. Another personal preference is the Velcro fastener for the case's flap. The sound Velcro makes can be disturbing where the silence of magnets is preferred.

Overall Impression

While the Golla Gavin Wallet didn't appeal to me personally (prefer belt clips to loops), I found it to be a solidly built, protective case for Windows Phones. With the credit card and zippered pockets, the Gavin can easily take the place of your traditional wallet.

While belt loops aren't my style, there's no doubt that the case rides secure on your belt. And to the case's credit, it is comfortable to carry. I didn't feel as though I had a bulky case weighting my hip down.

Golla offers a wide range of quality cases and the Gavin follows suit nicely.  If you prefer a soft sided case that has the functionality of a wallet, the Gavin deserves a strong look. It lacks the bulk of other cargo cases and has a stylish flair to it.

The Golla Gavin is running $16.95 over at the WPCentral Accessory Store.
