If you're an enterprising developer who also happens to be a Halo fan, developer 343 Industries is currently holding a hackathon contest leveraging the Halo API, with some pretty cool prizes up for grabs. The contest coincides with an update to the Halo API, giving developers access to the following data points for any kill from a match:

  • Gamertags of the players
  • Weapon used to kill
  • In-game time
  • Location on the map in coordinates

For the contest itself, 343 Industries is asking developers to come up with unique or otherwise cool sites and apps leveraging the new data. The winning entry will get their hands on a scale replica of the Needler gun from the Halo games, an Anubis replica helmet and 47 Halo: 5 Gold REQ Packs.
