HoloLens is now shipping to developers in Japan

Not long after going on pre-order in early December, Microsoft HoloLens is now available and shipping in Japan. Commercial partners and developers who previously pre-ordered one of the headsets in Japan should receive theirs soon, and it's also up for grabs at the Microsoft Store.

The Japan launch is only the latest in a recent international expansion for HoloLens, which became available for developers in Australia, France, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand and the UK in October. Getting the tech into the hands of more developers is definitely a good thing, and with Japan added to that list, we're bound to see even more cool applications and uses spring up for HoloLens in the near future.

HoloLens is only one prong of Microsoft's Holographic platform, as the company is also working with partners to launch low-cost VR and mixed reality headsets later in 2017.
