Myntra is a leading online retailer of fashion and casual lifestyle products in India. Acquired by Flipkart in 2014, the shopping portal offers clothes, footwear, and fashion accessories for men, women, and kids.
The launch of its new app for Windows 10 now allows one to browse through the catalog of over 160,000 product styles from more than 1000 brands while on desktop. All this sounds good, except that Myntra doesn't get UWP. While the new app is available on Windows 10 on PCs, on mobile, the older app for Windows Phone 8.1 is served. Don't let the hamburger menu on the mobile app and similar UI fool you; underneath, it's a different app.
Myntra launched an app for Windows Phone in 2014, and the company famously, and controversially, shut down its website and went app-only last year. Considering that it's targeting an app-based audience, it would've made sense to launch the updated Windows 10 app on both desktop and mobile. However, that's not the case.
The Windows 10 desktop app allows you to browse through separate sections for men, women, teens, and kids and you can refine your search based on popularity, discount, prices, colors, sizes, and more using sort and filter features. The app also offers notifications on best deals and offers and you can save stuff for later by adding to your wishlist straight from the app.
The Windows 10 app is nicely executed, and offers a seamless and intuitive user experience. We hope that the app goes universal soon and is also available for Windows 10 Mobile users. Give it a whirl, and let us know how you like it.
