Thailand is the latest country to start selling Microsoft's latest Windows Phone device, the 5-inch Lumia 535. The company held a press event earlier today to announce the launch of the budget phone, which will be priced at 4,490 Thai Baht, or about $137.
Microsoft will also offer Thailand Lumia 535 buyers three free months of international calls via the Windows Phone Skype app. The phone was first announced in early November, with sales starting in a number of Asian countries. Recently, pre-orders for the phone have begun in parts of Europe like Germany and France with shipments expected to begin later in December. So far, no US carrier has announced plans to sell the Lumia 535, although Expansys USA has started selling the unlocked international version of the phone.
One interesting part of today's Thailand launch was a slide which showed Microsoft's "One Windows" theme of having a version of the OS working on all kinds of devices and sizes, from small smartphones to large all-in-one PCs. This message is the vision Microsoft has for Windows 10, which is scheduled to launch in 2015.
