More coverage

A Vodafone store located in Baden-Württemberg, Germany has confirmed on its Facebook page that both the Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 will be available from November 1st. Being only 17 days away, there's still Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 event on October 29th to get through first, but it's good to know there's not much longer to wait out.

Nokia's Apollo hardware will not only be available from Vodafone in Germany on the first day of next month, but also Media Markt. The latter has already revealed November 1st as the release date, which we covered yesterday. It's good to see more than one source to look at when checking pricing to make the best investment.

Midway through last week we saw the first real pictures of Verizon's upcoming Nokia Lumia 822 and then heading into the weekend learned a little more about it. Now, a posting over at the FCC reveals that the Lumia 822, may have checked in for certification. A filing for a device known simply as the RM-845 has cropped up with similar measurements to the Nokia Lumia 820, which the 822 is modeled after, and sporting Verizon's CDMA and LTE frequency bands. It also shows a MicroSD slot, which distinguishes it from other Nokia WP8 devices, like the Lumia 920.

The RM-845 is listed as having both NFC as well as quad-band HSPA 3G for international roaming. It may not be the flagship Nokia phone that people were hoping Verizon would get, but it's certainly a good first step. There hasn't been any concrete timetable announced, but with the likely Lumia 822 now in the hands of the FCC, we could possibly see it in time for Microsoft's October 29 launch of Windows Phone 8.

The Lumia 810 (left) versus Lumia 820 (right)

With the announcement of the T-Mobile Lumia 810 and its slight hardware redesign, a lot of comments seem to have users prefer its look over the Lumia 820—the device it was based off of.

So we put forth the simple question: which do you think looks nicer? And if you don’t know or have no preference, you can say that too.

The T-Mobile-exclusive Lumia 810

With the announcement today by T-Mobile of the Lumia 810, the question that follows next regards differences between it and the Lumia 820.

At first glance you may think that these are the same phones just with a name change. But they are not.

While the “guts” and main features are overlapping, the physical design of the 810 is more “blocky” than the Lumia 820. In addition, the sizes of the devices are slightly different as well, with the T-Mobile 810 being a tad larger, but weighing 15 grams less.

Nokia has done direct marketing and sales in Europe but never in the US

From a new job posting that was sent in to Windows Phone Central, it appears that Nokia will be hiring folks from November 12th through December 31st to work in direct retail situations in mall kiosks and shops in the US.

The job requests are smartly being targeted at colleges where students could surely use the extra money and who would be more familiar with the nomenclature. We’re actually a bit excited to see this as it ties in nicely with Microsoft’s own Holiday stores and kiosks that are appearing in malls across the country.

The jobs are part-time or full-time, pay between $15-17 an hour with a completion bonus on hand. Candidates are to have past retail experience, a knowledge of technology and of course passion for the job.

The other day we reported that Nokia may be prohibiting carriers from branding the new Lumia Windows Phones with their company logos. Instead, preferring that carriers use virtual branding through preloaded software or software hubs.

Several Italian carriers are reportedly preparing to offer the new Lumia Windows Phones without logo branding. As we mentioned previously, the overseas carrier influence is a little more passive that what we experience here in the States. We weren't sure if this logo ban would extend to AT&T, Verizon or T-Mobile until this morning.

We've heard rumors, speculation and murmurs about AT&T announcing the addition of the Nokia Lumia 920 Windows Phone to their lineup and now it's official. As an added bonus, AT&T also announced that the Lumia 820 will also be part of the wireless provider's Windows Phone lineup.

The Lumia 920 will be available in red, white, black, yellow and cyan (yes, cyan). The Lumia 820 will be available in black. Both the 920 and 820 will be 4G LTE compatible and are planned to be available in November. There was no mention of pricing in the press release.

Interesting news coming out of Italy concerning the Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 Windows Phones. Internal sources are reporting that carriers will not be able to brand either of these phones with their corporate logo. The only logo allowed will be Nokia's.

Italian carriers Telecom Italy, 3 Italy, Vodafone and Wind are all preparing to offer the Nokia Windows Phones but without their company logos. Carriers will be able to brand the Lumia Windows Phone through customized software such as AT&T's software suite or a custom hub.  A virtual branding of sorts.
