Lumia 950

The Microsoft Lumia 950 will definitely be sold by AT&T in the US, but a report that claimed the Windows 10 Mobile smartphone would be an exclusive for the carrier has since been retracted.

The exclusivity claim came from a CNET story, but the report has now been amended to state, "The deal between AT&T and Microsoft for the Lumia 950 is not an exclusive one." However, another CNET story claims that even though AT&T doesn't have an "exclusive" on selling the Lumia 950 or Lumia 950 XL, that doesn't mean the other major US carriers have plans to sell those smartphones.

"Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile and Sprint have no intention to sell either the Lumia 950 or Lumia 950 XL, according to people familiar with the carriers' plans."

We contacted Microsoft for comment and received this statement from a spokesperson:

"To date in the U.S., we've announced Lumia 950 availability through AT&T, and both Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL availability through Microsoft stores. We encourage customers check with their local carrier or retailer for the latest availability, and beyond that have nothing to share about additional U.S. partner operators."
