A new video showing off the next version of Lumia Camera has reportedly surfaced. The demo is shown on a Lumia 830 and shows off the new Lumia Camera's faster boot time and new HDR feature.
We got our own look at Lumia Camera's next major version back in September. The update to Lumia Camera is expected to arrive with the Lumia Denim update.
Thanks to Linh H for the tip!
I'm so excited
And you just can't hide it..?
I get it, funny.
I'm about to lose control
And I think I like it.
I was too, until I realized phone boot time is not speeding up, but just the app's time to start/launch.
I don't understand.my 830 already has denim..
But not the new App..
I guess you'll just get an update to the app..
I think the 830 lists Denim as the OS in the settings but I'm pretty sure the features aren't operational.
The features aren't operational because it need a new version of Lumia Camera app
Don't worry, i am sure you are a beauty ;)
Aahww. thanks, hahahah :D. Okey. I see. I'll wait for the app update then..
When i changed my 520's language into japanese, I was able to see in Extras + Info that my phone had Denim software but that's wasn't true. Once I changed the language into English I checked Extras + Info again and surprise, Cyan was written instead.
It must mean Cyan in Japanese..
It's a bug with the latest Extras + Info, if you turn PFD off, you see Denim as well.
Oh..I'll try ASAP..!!
I wish living images would be able to show up on my computer instead of my phone. Can't wait for HDR, was honestly going with an OPO to try it out.
That'd be neat.
I currently own a Nokia Lumia 1520 and I've just bought the OPO after receiving an invite out of nowhere just last night. I think it worth a shot, given the rarity and all the good reviews I've came across over internet. Hope it not disappoint thogh!
I have one and it is one of the best Android phones out there. The design is great and CyanogenMod is a great improvement of the Android OS. I wish I could install Window Phone OS on it.
Use Sorry Teller to transform live images into videos and then you can have the effect permanently across platforms.
Alternatively, project my screen if you just want to see it on the computer display.
Supposedly living images will show up on social networks later on.
I love how fast it become.
hope it will be this fast in L920
I cant wait to see the speed on a 1520
Didn't see Nokia Camera in my Lumia 510 being updated in ages..
Ain't gonna happen...
Will phones such as 520 get the HDR feature? Or the speed improvement?
@Wam1q, don't spread wrong information.
Daniel Rubino said:
"They will get the core aspects. Even devices that can't shoot 4K will get an "HD Moments" version. The whole architecture of the camera app/system was re-written for Lumia Denim and Lumia Camera V for speed, as processing of images now happens in the background."
No. Mr. Rubino is most probably wrong there. Juha Alakarhu has confirmed what I say.
So the phones which already have denim will get thus via the store update right??
hopefully we at least get toshoot hdrtoo bad all that isn't gonna happen with my Lumia 1020, but I love it anyways
What features are not coming to the 1020? I was hoping the quick launch on the camera would breathe new life into it. Right now, that's my only disappointment with the phone is the slow launch and processing after a pic is taken.
the quick launch and almost just about all the other quickening improvements... don't remember where or when but one of the top guys working on the team said the 1020 won't be getting the improvements because of the older chipset in the phone, says it's not inedible to do it but would take a lot of time to pull it off and that the time it would take life only cause it to be buggy and ruin the experience, so they say for now nothing doing... :'(but I still love my 1020... we will get the update but not the parts about speeding up the camera and such
Then what about the older x20s?
There should be a Camera mode on 1020, using all power on the camera
All of them. No Nokia not-released by Microsoft Mobile (ie. the x20 series) will get anything with the exception of the Nokia 1520 because Microsoft couldn't find an excuse not to update it.
By all intents and purposes, Microsoft has dropped any support for phones not in the x30 series. They'll get WP10 but they'll probably not have 80% of the features based on the same excuse. I'm ready to bet on that.
So true, stopped real support for most devices/carrier combinations after black.
Lumia 920 was supposed to have miracast in Windows Phone 8.1, wonder why that never happened...
Only if packing a snapdragon 800, so no. Only 1520 and 930.
#Awesomeness, can't wait!
From that specific video, it looks horrible. So slow to load, so slow to take a picture. I have two kids who don't stand still for a moment. My wife's iPhone takes sharp photos of them, while my Lumia never gets a shot in. I'm hoping tho new update will finally fix that, it is so frustrating. Got super camera hardware and so crappy results ever since I moved to Lumia. Sure, pictures of apples are sharp, but who cares?
That was the HDR mode. It's gonna be a lot faster to take normal photos. Some description said it's a split second between photos.
Looks like beta/pre-release software to me, so you can probably expect shooting times to be much quicker, regardless of HDR or not. It would also explain some UI and animation glitches that I saw before
Will this becoming to Lumia 925?
yeah it will... so far the Lumia 1020 is gonna be left out tho, they say cause of the older hardware :(
Where did u get this information? I don't think the 925 has better specs than the 1020. They are probably on par beside the camera, and the 1020 even has more RAM.
okay I was mistaken, Lumias 920, 925, an 1020 not getting it see here... http://www.nokiapoweruser.com/lumia-1020-wont-get-the-camera-speed-impro...
This is really disappointing to hear. I may switch to a different default camera app. The Lumia Camera app is just way too slow on the 1020. And consider other apps start up much faster, I find it kind of BS that this speed improvement doesn't apply to those phones.
They realllllly need to launch a 1020 successor. I love mine but its starting to feel really slow and dated.
I gues the 928 is out too. Not like Verizon will ever release 8.1 or the firmware to support it anyway...
All dual-core processor phones will be left out. You need to upgrade to L830, L930 and L1520. L1030 will be supported too if there is one. :-)
The 830, 930, and 1520 are not upgrades to the 1020. They have better processors but the cameras still pale in comparison to the 1020. I hope there is some improvement with the new app. It's just way to slow for day to day use. Drives me nuts.
830, 930 and 1520 are upgrades to the L1020 in terms of processor. The Denim needs a Quad-core processor to process 4 things concurrently while Dual-core processor can only do two things at a time. The Denim oversampling work are processed on a separate core in the background. They are two different designs. The Quad-core devices will obviously be more powerful and efficient than the Dual-core devices. Besides the Quad-core issue, the Xenon flash on L1020 could also be an issue to play nice with Denim which focuses on the multi-shot bursts of images. Xenon flash has recharge time after each firing along with its freeze motion feature and the mechnical shutter may not support the speed required for the multi-shot feature on Denim. There are some unknowns about the future of Xenon. Denim seems to be going different direction from Xenon. May be that's why the leaked L1030 picture shows that an electronic shutter and dual LED flash are used. Hopefully, we will learn more about the true Denim and Xenon story before too long. For now, my views are simply speculative.
That's businesses tricks.. They should leave older devices otherwise they can't sell the future ones....I have been seeing this since Nokia N8
Checked the video again, 3 seconds for it to take the shot! 3 seconds your subject needs to hold perfectly still... Yeah right.
that was HDR test.. not normal photo
He used Rich Capture mode that took multiple images. Normal shot should be much faster.
Even the current 830 beats the iPhone 6 in focus time to shot. Not sure how much faster you expect...
as long as my 1020 gets the HDR it'll be cool still
Is Faster boot time will available for all Lumia ?
The difference is probable more noticeable on the newer phones.
No one who knows has said. Time will tell.
I hope this can be available on my L1020. The startup lag time pretty horrendous. I didn't used to care as much...but now I do.....
My shiny new 930 is ready and waiting
+1520, the Lumia king
Instead of this, why not just share your own videos, they were far more detailed. :P
Will this fast resumption and HDR be available for other Lumias like the 1020 and 925 ??
No. No Nokia's released by Nokia will get this, with the exception of the 1520.
Only phones in the x30 series will get the Denim features, and within those the 1520 (exception) and the 930 will get extra features.
Support for the 1020 has been dropped by Microsoft.
I don't understand why the hell do they announce the new version of WP so soon. It's almost 4 months since they announced Denim. Where the fuck is it? Does it really take so long time to test it?
Finally got to play around with the 830 in an AT&T store last night. Love it. Very tempted to upgrade my 920. Hopefully there's a sale soon. Probably do Next 12. If the Lumia Camera update hurries up and comes out, I'll probably jump on the 830!
It is lightening fast to open the camera in this video!
I think it's become a thing to use comic sans to troll typeface elitists and/or people who think they're typeface experts.
Bring it on!
Such a cheap video
No, it's deep. Buried.
Can't find the video anymore...
Which video..?? I can't see one..!!
What do you mean? Is there a problem with the video?
Video..?? What's a video..?? Am I missing something here..??
Doesn't 830 have Denim already?
Yep, all it needs is the app update.
Microsoft is such a tease...
I have a Lumia 830 with denim update, why doesn't it have those things?
Because the camera app hasn't been updated yet.
Does the processor have a huge impact on the time to start the camera? On my 630 and the 830 of a friend it takes 3-6 seconds to start the cam. Way to long. Is the 930 faster? And if so does the qualcom 800 have anything to do with it?
Seems like we have been hearing about this update for a while now. I'd like to get it instead of hearing about it.
I'm so excited. Oh wait,, I have an HTC one. -_- . I don't get why all t the Lumia apps aren't baked into the OS. Xbox music included, it was much faster when it was native. This way all devices could at least have access to these apps and their updates via MS updates. Why is so much software tied to firmware updates?
Whether an app is native or not has NOTHING to do with how fast or stable it is. The only difference is the way it is delivered to the device. By having them standalone they are able to update much easier without having to involve the carriers or the OEMs. This is the same thing Google is doing with Android.
You're absoluetly WRONG. There is a HUGE difference in how native and non-natives interact with the hardware and the other pieces of software on a device and this can lead to measurable performance differences. Native apps are ALWAYS better.
Native has nothing to do with being baked in.
Wrong. The fact that you own a Windows phone and are saying this makes it even more puzzling that you'd say it, because WP8 is the posterchild for the difference between native and non-native apps. XBox Music was in complete disarray after being ported from native to a store app and even the developers acknowledged it. They've been picking up the pieces ever since.
God fell asleep
Seems faster :D
Wow. It looks more like the old Microsoft Camera that actually observed Metro Design Language. Nice.
My 735, will it be able to use that HDR feature out of the box? Or still need a separate app for HDRi stuff?
Just use lumia camera 5
In the photo it seems like its a 930 not an 830 hmmm....
It's a 1520...
In the articles photo, that is a 930 the 1520 doesn't have metal bezel. :P
Why winphoneviet gets the applaud instead of the original blogger?
Because those guy on WC cannot understand Vietnamese so they cannot find the exact source?
Keep making Windows Phone the utlimate.
Damn Verizon...its like they want me to ditch windows for another platform
Ditch Verizon instead...?
Can't wait for this on my 830. Looks fast, no more resuming screen when launching the camera .
Icon will be the first phone to get it...
We're in December when is this denim coming we've read a lot about it
I hope this is good. I'm still disappointed I got better photos with my Nexus 5 (HDR+) than my 1520.
Lol, get real.
Why a simple HDR feature not available even basic android phones have it.At least give us HDR option to old lumias Microsoft.

Use 4BlendHDR or ProShot
There a release date ?
Hey can anyone help me here:
I am unable to download Lumia camera classic , its showing unavailable for region or OS version not supported.
Device : Lumia 720
OS: wp8.1.1 (with the latest just 2 days ago update)
Actual region: I m in India and have kept my phone in US for Cortana.
I think its because this app is only available for the new and high end phones with quad core processors..eg.1520,930,and 830..
830 has the same processor as my lowly 635, the Snapdragon 400 quadcore with Adreno 305 GPU, and that is AGED.
For 720, download lumia camera..!!
Classic is for 930, 1520 n icon.
Release update no have firmware Lumia Denim. . When Lumia 928 updating Lumia Denim and have install Lumia Camera with firmware Denim. Lumia 928 firmware Lumia Black. Damn shit :-@
I have no idea what you just said!
Must have four thumbs.
but i will still wait for windows 10 for phones
This is really exciting! My Lumia 630 takes 4 seconds to boot up the camera which is an eternity. I hope when I get the 1520 it will be that fast
Pffy iPhone 4s take better hdr and panorama than any Lumias.
Lie. Go away, troll.
Haha, no. :D
lol WOW HDR HOW AMAZING 10000 years later yes AND WHERE IS DENIM ? IS ALMOST 2015
HDR apps have been around in WP for years. Now they are just integrating it to the Lumia app.
Do you want unfinished software, switch to android.
It is always good to have it integrated to the Lumia camera app, but I wouldn't say that the app, or the OS for that matter, is unfinished just because of HDR. The current camera app in the OS for non Lumia won't have this app anyway, so it is good to have third party apps covering features that is not available in the OS. The functions of an OS is to provide the third party apps of a platform to build on and WP does for the most part.
He said Android was unfinished software. Need a fuckin chalkboard?
Maybe I misunderstood him but I thought that he implied that WP is unfinished software in its current state without HDR (just like android in his opinion).
Why should MS choose to only update the camera for 3 phones?? That's total bullshit from them as far as I'm concerned. The 735 and 830 have same specs inside so why as it can surely run it. And don't give me the Pureview crap. Getting sick of MS lately so slow at everything
All phones will get some improvements, but the biggest improvements cant be implemented on slower phones.
Oh my poor L822! Verizon, not cool. By the time I get this Denim may be you all will be so fat with updates it would be Spandex rolling in!
So nothing for older Lumia phones :/ guys with no 1520, 930 or 830 that's not our place :(
Older? My 635 came out just a few months ago and was the first phone with 8.1; it has the same chipset as the 830 yet we get nothing!
Pointless to be excited about denim, for my Nokia 630. Brings nothing tangible to the table.
I for one wish they drop the camera megapixel to may be 24 instead of the 41 .. It just not worth on a mobile.. Also it will make the phone faster
Then get a 930 or 1520...
Maybe faster than the 1020, but the cameras aren't even close...
The words of a person who has never used a 1020 ;)
Faster boot. Yeah!
Ugh, still has the button to view previous photos. I much prefer the camera app that lets you just swipe to the right to see previous photos.
But the start up time looks much faster which is good.
I think that gesture would be conflicting with the one finger zoom gesture
Can't wait!!! Any dates?
Lumia 1520 has not receive update from Nokia to Lumia camera, pls device!
Shame even the 1020 won't get the speed improvements... was hoping it would. Well looks like my trusty L920 will have to soldier on for several more months'.
If Daniel Rubino says truth -i believe he does- every lumia phones which runs wp8 will get the entirely new camera algorithm but camera talents will depend on the model. It means this will be improvement for us all.
Otherwise it will be just like outraging people who paid and purchased devices like 920-925-1020 vs. Daniel says:
"Core aspects will be for all Lumias, including the re-written camera architecture for processing images."
"Devices without 4K support get "HD Moments" instead. Similar, but not as high resolution."
"Some of this will work with the 1020."
By the way, if it is not, no clever man purchase another lumia device in the future. Who want to buy something from a company who don't care even one-year old customers?
Updating/renewing the program and improving the device is not same thing every time. I don't expect Lumia 830' work from my Lumia 925, but they must be running same app, at least
I don't give a f...k about HDR, I only want that startup time, but I am pretty sure it wont work on the Lumia 1020
I cant wait for W10.1 when they'll prob decide to rewrite the kernel again and we get an even slower camera app and Xbox Music becomes even worse... This update seems cool, but very few users will be getting it, and it begs the question of why it's even needed 4 yrs after WP7.
You can't speed up 1020 start up time its like a lawn mower engine powering a truck
If I remember right, they also said it was impossible to build a 1020 using the older Snapdragon architecture...
Then Nokia completely rewrote the Snapdragon camera drivers and gave us this amazing bit of tech!
If they can do that, I'm sure they could rustle up some more trickery to boost startup speed.
Shot to shot time might not be something that can be improved....but startup time surely can!
Supposedly the batteries in some Nokias are an underestimated piece of technology over other phones !
You're forgetting a very small yet crucial detail: Nokia is no longer in charge. And Microsoft doesn't want to waste time supporting existing users. That's how Microsoft has always rolled. So there shouldn't be surprises. I'm betting whenever WP10 phones come out, they'll also announce an update that will not be available for any older WP devices "because".
Seems faster for my Lumia 1020 ditch time
It's a real shame that most Lumias won't ever enjoy this features
So excited for the Denim update this is going to be super awesome given that one of the primary reasons for picking the 1520 was the camera. Hoping to get it before Christmas
Microsoft is not directly competing with Apple, they are competing with Google and their Nexus line of phones. Microsoft knows what models they can exploit in terms of featuers, obviously the high end phones can do alot but don't expect them to release an update with ten amazing features that make your mouth drop within one release.
Windows10 will probably push DirectX onto Windows Phones making games more richer and probably even Nexus users will be impressed when that time comes. Qualcomm is still king, I know nVidia Tegra is extremely powerful but Microsoft goes to Qualcomm not just to make the chips for their phones; but also to design them exclusively for Windows Phone so there is a strong partnership between Microsoft & Qualcomm.
Windows Phone may only posses 3.2% of the market share, that doesn't make Windows Phone at the bottom, that title goes to BlackBerry at roughly 2.3% roughly. If RIM and Microsoft Merged considering both have extremely secure servers considering how secure Google and especially Apples servers are.
Instead of a video, how about we get the actual app???
This video is originate from http://blogjackphone.com/nokia/lumia-camera-v5-preview-demo-rich-capture/ One of the blogger Victor is my friend and he recorded this video at the event of Lumia 535 launching hosted by MS Malaysia. Please give credits to him and his blog.
I second this. Nobody is giving credits to Victor and blogjackphone. And then, the main stream sources as WC will state they check their sources lol.
I'm running Denim on my 830. There is no way my camera starts as quick as the video shows! I get a "Loading" message that I get to stare at before the camera launches.
Ugh, because you don't have the updated app.
This is from blogjackphone.com
Kinda pissed that I just bought this 1020 to get few updates....booh. Idc if it doesn't have enough power. If I plug it in, no worries.
Posted via Windows Phone Central App
Can't wait enough for denim on my 1520! Good I thought long term & got a flagship phone.
They should make every app with boot time like this !
Hi friends, Lumia 1020 is the best camera phone. If lumia 1020 running on old hardwere and 1520/830 get an new hardwere and they get new app and many more..but end of the day this phones is not comperd to Lumia 1020 because the shutter speed is in 1020 is much higher because of xenon flash and more.but lumia 1520\830 have only led flash so Microsoft is trying everything but the last winner is Lumia 1020...
