Microsoft has pushed out a new update to the official Maps app for Windows 10 to members of the Insider program on the Fast ring. This update adds the long awaited inking options to the app.

Windows Maps

This is a very big new feature for the preview version of the Maps app, which has the version number of 5.1608.2117.0. The new inking feature allows users to find out the distance between two points from any line drawn, and can also generate directions from the map from any line drawn on the app.

Again, this update is for Fast ring members of the Windows Insider program who have build 14393.10 installed on their PC. The current production version of the Maps app, available to the rest of Windows 10 owners, does not yet have this option.
