Marketplace Spotlight: Cocktail Mixer

Innovative Solutions is offering Cocktail Mixer over at the Windows Marketplace for Mobile to help the budding bartender in all of us. The free application is simple, straight forward and contains a wide range of cocktail recipes.

Cocktail Mixer sorts the recipes alphabetically, by serving glass style (gotta love those bucket drinks), and type. You can also search for recipes by name or ingredients as well as tag your favorites for quick reference.

The app does require a data connection to download the individual recipes. In skimming through the various concoctions, I found Cocktail Mixer to be a stable application with no hang-ups, crashes, or glitches experienced. Recipes were presented in a clear, easy to follow manner.

If you're looking for a bar-tending reference for your Windows Phone, Cocktail Mixer might be a good choice. The library includes 15,000 recipes ranging from an Apple Pie Shooter to a Zipperhead. Best of all, it's a free application from the Windows Marketplace.

Somehow, this doesn't strike me as the best of all apps for your smartphone. I have this mental image of someone putting this app on their phone, then helping bartend for a friend's party. Open the app, find the recipe, set the phone down, start to make the drink. And some drunk knocks over a vodka & tonic right on your nice smartphone, shorting it out. Nope. Think I'll skip this one.
