Marketplace Spotlight: PTasks

Looking for a replacement for the stock, Windows Mobile task manager? PTasks, by pTasks Publishing, is being offered over at the Windows Marketplace for Mobile that might fit the bill.

PTasks allows you to group tasks according to categories, due dates and user-set conditions. The task manager can be customized in appearance and operation to better suit your needs. PTasks also supports Cookie's Home Tab and flag emails through your Exchange Account.

PTasks has two themes to choose from, Simple and Advanced, which changes the layout of the main page. The Simple layout has your task list and the "add" button/field. The Advanced theme includes the "add" button/field plus a filter button. I like the "add" feature on the main page but it's for quick entries. You enter the subject of the task and tap add to create the task. You then have to go into the newly created task to set the due date, assign it to categories, and any other entry options.

Within each task you have options to convert the task into an appointment, email the task, SMS the task, as well as edit, delete or complete the task.

In using PTasks for the past few days, I found it to be a stable, smooth running application. It's a sharp looking application with a well layed out interface. I was a little overwhelmed by the number of options available throughout PTasks but the options better allow the app to match your needs and tastes. I use Cookie's Home Tab on my Tilt2 and the built in integration was a nice addition and ran smoothly.

If you're looking for an alternative to the stock task manager in Windows Mobile, PTasks is worth considering. It's running $3.99 over at the Marketplace.
