Windows Store users can still buy apps, games and more with their Microsoft accounts that access Bitcoin payments. Microsoft is offering an apology for what it calls "inaccurate information" that found its way to a company support site.
"You can no longer redeem Bitcoin into your Microsoft account. Existing balances in your account will still be available for purchases from Microsoft Store, but can't be refunded."
Now VentureBeat has received a statement from a Microsoft spokesperson:
"We continue to support Bitcoin for adding money to your Microsoft Account which can be used for purchasing content in the Windows and Xbox stores," a Microsoft spokesperson told VentureBeat. "We apologize for inaccurate information that was inadvertently posted to a Microsoft site, which is currently being corrected."
There's no word on how or why this false information was posted on Microsoft's support site.
