Microsoft celebrates upcoming Windows 10 Anniversary Update with Windows Store deals

In the run-up to the release of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update on August 2, Microsoft has launched some deals to celebrate in the Windows Store. Included are a number of game deals and promotions, along with a free movie rental and more.

First up, Minecraft fans can currently snag the first episode of Minecraft Story Mode for free through July 29. If you end up hooked, episodes 2-6 are also currently discounted by 50%. And if regular Minecraft action is more your speed, you can currently grab a free roller coaster map for Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta.

Lastly on the games front, Microsoft says that the first 1,000 people to download and complete the Windows 10 Anniversary Star Club collection in Microsoft Solitaire will receive a $10 Microsoft Store gift code.

On the media side of things, Microsoft has offered up a free movie rental for School of Rock, the Jack Black flick from 2003, through July 25. Additionally, while this isn't necessarily brand-new, Microsoft is highlighting a Groove Music promotion through which you can sign up for a Music Pass and get four months for the price of one.
