Microsoft is giving 200 Xbox fans in Los Angeles a chance to attend a cool celebration, along with the 2015 edition of The Game Awards. Both will take place on Thursday, December 3.
Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb states that the Xbox fan event will let its attendees enjoy "an afternoon of food and drinks and meet special guests from the Xbox team" at the JW Marriott Los Angeles at LA LIVE. Microsoft has yet to set up the time for the event and it has not announced how it will pick the 200 fans. However, they do have to be local, or at least, visiting, the LA area as Microsoft won't be providing transportation or lodging for the event. They also have to be 21 years of age and over.
After the Xbox fan celebration is over, the 200 fans will walk over to the Microsoft Theater at LA Live to attend The Game Awards 2015. This is the second year for the event, which was created by Geoff Keighley, who used to host the Spike cable TV network's Video Game Awards. The event will give out awards to the best games of the past year, some of which are voted on by a jury of game journalists and some by fans. The event will also have 10 "world premieres" of some upcoming games for 2016 and beyond. It will be live streamed for free on a number of platforms, including Xbox Live.
