Earlier this week, Microsoft released a new software update for the Microsoft Band that enabled keyboard support, Quick Read, and a new Run tile. Additionally, the companion Microsoft Health app was updated as well, bringing many new features including Microsoft HealthVault integration.

Tonight, another new firmware software update is going out. We first noticed it when our Microsoft Health app stopped syncing due to a request for an upgrade.

Version 10.2.2612.0 is the new update, bumping up from the previous 10.2.2610.0 released for February 23.

Currently, Microsoft has yet to update their support page detailing the new firmware. As such, we do not know what – if anything – is new. Due to the release being so close to the previous one, we suspect that this may be a quick bug fix and not necessarily for new features.

How to update

For now, users on Windows Phone can launch their Microsoft Health app to initiate the update (or try manually syncing). Likewise, you can also plug the band into a PC and run the synchronization software to get it that way as well.
